Re: Over Temperature

Perhaps one or more of the cooling fans are inoperative. One of the fans is easily accessible by removing the two screws that hold the grille cover on the left side of the set. When you power up this is one of the fans that should kick on. The other fans require removing the back panel and probably will require a service tech for replacement. You can enter the service mode by pressing "Menu"- 619 -"Menu" and going to "INFO" on the menu bar. You can check your system temperature and it may indicate which of the fans is not working.

When tv is turned on message comes up that tv will shut off....check for dust etc. Room is cool. Tried system reset. removed and reset bulb in place. Any ideas? Barry

Cool room will not have much effect on the inside temperature of the TV. Check for the dust on the air filters of the projector & clean them. Inside the projection TV there is thermal sensor which senses the temperature. If it is more than the maximum recommended temperature set by the manufacturer, it shows the above message. It is quite likely that your TV's thermal sensor is not functioning or a fault has occurred in the sensing circuit.

My Sony Wega, model# KDF-E60A20 keeps shutting off for minutes at a time. The green power light stays on , no flashing. A few seconds before it turns back on ther is a click and a power up sound. Does...

Just replace the bulb first. They last a long time, but after a while if they don't simply blow, they will start to shut off for short periods, then restart. The odd thing is the whole set shuts down too, so something else also may be happening, maybe to do with the temperature control circuitry, that causes a full system shut down. My TV repair man said try this first before I bring the unit in for a diagnostic. Transporting them is not an easy thing to do, given the size of these TVs. I originally bought 3 extra bulbs in 2005, and now used up the last one, and I use the TV a lot.

Sony KDF-50E2000 shuts down and blinks repeatedly twice.

The 2 blink error is a temperature error and the 6 blink error is a thermal fuse error. You may need to unplug the set and get you a can of canned air, take off the back lower cover and blow out all of the fans inside the set.

The tv keeps shutting down

i unplugged the tv , turned the lamp switch to off . I left it unplugged for a few hours . I then plugged the tv back in , hit the reset button , located on the front bottom left . I waited for the timer light to stop blinking , then turned the lamp switch to the on position . I turned the power on to the tv . i heard the fan kick on , this time there was not a dragging sound . the screen lit up and i have not had a problem since yesterday . i think that the problem started because the tv had been left on for too long , I know that what i have done is only a temperary fix . but as long as I dont forget to turn the tv off , i should not have a problem

Pioneer plasma pdp4214hd shuts off after being on for about 20 min.

Are you able to turn the TV back on immediately or do you have to wait? If the TV is consistently shutting off around 20 minutes, this may indicate an overheating issue. It is possible that you need to clean the TV out of dust or it may mean your cooling fan is dead or not revving up when the temperature rises. If you are not able to turn the TV back on right after it shuts off, overheating is likely the issue, as you would be forced to wait until it cools down. If you are able to turn it back on, for how long? Does it continue to shut off after another 20 minutes? It is possible that the thermal sensor on the mainboard is defective, or that the software that controls the sensor maybe corrupt. Service or a firmware update may resolve this. You would have to contact the manufacturer.

Plugged in my tv and tried to turn it on before it reached room temperature, and now the thing won't come on. the green light infront flashes but that's it. someone had mentioned to me it may be the fuses...

OK first thing.. its not the fuses. if the green light flashes this is an idication that the processor is receiving power, This is a shutdown unit,, If the set has any problems .. i think thers about 25 different reason the set will shut down. for safety Technicians have special computer equipment to read errors from the processor. COmmon sollutions include first shut set down and uplug for about 30 min then try again..( i dont think i have ever seen this work) THis is where the troubleshooting begins. Problems on this unit start with shorted horizontal transistors. that the first thing techs check.

Amber system light is on

had the same issue, we even had a personal fan blowing air behind the tv and the message always comes up right when we turn on the set and the tv turns itself off after about 30 seconds. did some research and it turns out there is no air flow problem just a faulty temperature sensor inside the set. Mitzubishi knew about this since 2006 but didn't really aknowlege it until more recently, they admitted it was a problem with the sensor and are now extending everyone's warenty by 2 extra years so if you got it with a year warenty and you bought it less than 3 years ago, call mitzubishi's 800 number and tell them the temperature sensor needs to be replaced, they'll get you in touch with the nearest service center and a service man will come out and replace the sensor at no charge for parts or labor. hope this helps

Turns off every so often

Well guys I found that if one just reads the manual you may find the solution...Mine seemed pretty simple - the room temperature was too warm! I adjusted the heat in the house, the yellow Status light went off works again!
