I have a Sony kp48v80 that needs a new A PCM board. However, Sony has stopped making the part and I can't seem to find it anywhere. The part number is "a1299051a" but no one on the internet seems to have it. I hate to discard a great tv for lack of a $300 dollar part. The part that is bad is the HV transformer and Sony has stopped making that too.

ALL MY TVS ARE SONY.4 YEARS AGO I HAD SIMILLAR PROBLEM AND I JUST CALLED THE SONY CENTER HERE IN GREECE!I TOLD THEM THE FLASHES AND TOLD ME TO DO 3 THINGS.FORTUNATELLY THE 2ND WORKED AND RUNNING SMOOTH SINCE THEN.SO JUST MAKE THE CALL TO SONY NO OTHER REPAIR MEN!U NEVER KNOW!!
Your model uses two of the STK392-150 ICs however there are also pico fuses and convergence resistors that will normally require replacement along with the ICs. You can get The Sony repair kit called " KP48V80 - KP61V80 Convergence repair Kit " which works for the KP53S76 models too and it has the Two Ics with heat sink , the pico fuses and the 12 resistors. The kit is listed on the following page http://tvrepairworld.com/sony_repair_kits
Make sure to check all the fuses with an ohm meter. Pioneer also have terrible solder joints. I used to "sweep solder" the whole convergence board. Down on the power supply you should find the pico fuses. They are pretty small in compairison to the glass fuses.
You only need to buy one assembly. One of the assemblies seem to be original or direct replacement from Sony. Call those guys, to give you more or better info.
In regards to the repair itself, is basically a plug and play but if there are other failures on the TV; the red CRT assembly replacement might not fix them.
Make sure that you pay attention to the 6 and 7 pins connectors orientation when you get the new board as well the ground wires need to be connected.
its the horizontal deflection has stopped the q5006 on the D board is broken or else ic 452 is faulty on the A board if you need to know where you can order these parts let me know and I will post a link also they offer free tec advice
you will need to replace the stk ic's they are mounted to 2 large heat sinks in side the tv. the ic numbers are on the chips themselves. i do believe it is stk392-510 for sony. once you have the number you can buy these anywhere online. just put new ones in and should be good to go. if this doesnt work then there are a few resistors and fuses by the ic's that sometimes fail.
