Hooking up subwoofer amplifier, voltage problem

With my car off, power, remote, and ground to my amplifier hooked up(a for SURE good ground) i get 12.6 volts...normal....but once i flip my keys forward (or backward) the voltage goes down to 3.5 ............ ive tried what seems like everything ive put an ENTIRELY different system, cd player, amplifier, power wire, a different source for the remote, totally changing everything, wires and all.. to see if it was any of my stuff doing it...with no luck, i dont see how it could be any of my equiptment...i also had someone tell me to try a capacitor, saying the system was pulling too much power from my battery, haven't tried but for some reason i see dont see that woking either..... i would love to have a working system one day lol...help greatly appreciated

with the car running it's 14.6 at the battery and at the end of my power wire when its NOT hooked up to the amp. It goes down to 3.5 when its hooked up to any amp...and im not sure if this is a problem but with remote and ground hooked up 2.75 volts is coming out of the empty battery terminal...thanks for the help

i don't think it is the equipment and i don't think a cap will fix it..... if the car is running, what voltage is at the battary? and where is the 3.5 volts measured from? could be a key barrel problem?

How to check the ignition coil

If the coil is off you can hook 12 volts to the positive terminal and a wire from the neg to ground. Have a high voltage wire from the coil tower to 1/4 to 1/2 inch from ground. Open and close the power circuit . You should see a spark every time you remove the power wire.

How to install a subwoofer and amplifier

When installing any electrical components always remember to unhook the battery. First thing you want to do is run your ground cable from a volt meter to a body or frame nut or bolt near by in the trunk or hatch area a shorter thicker ground is best then connect the other end of your volt meter to your battery cable that will need to be run through the firewall and connect to the positive battery terminal. Also VERY important make sure you have installed a fuse on the wire in between the amp and the battery. after you have connected the battery cable and ground to your meter it will light up or give you the correct reading for your ground, if not run the ground somewhere else until you have found the right spot. pull out your stereo, for stereos that are made to be compatible with an amp there will be multiple rca jacks in the back of the stereo. For a sub woofer you want to hook the rca cable to the rear or sub labeled rca jacks. Then run your amplifier remote wire to the remote wire protruding from the back of your car stereo. After that you can run the ground and battery cable to the correct slots. Now connect your sub via rca and your done. making it fit correctly is up to you. If you do not have an amp with a subwoofer out then you can take the wires from your sub and bridge the connection to your amp and get enough power, take the positive wire to your sub and hook it up to the positive terminal of channel one on the amp then take the negative wire from your sub and hook it into the negative terminal on channel two and your done.

How do I hook up a jbl 12 inch subwoffer to a car head unit

The head unit should have a RCA Sub Out. The RCA wire goes to the Sub Amplifier, along with power, ground, and a blue remote wire from the Head Unit. Next, the Sub Amp is wired to the Subwoofer with speaker wire. Without an amplifier your sub won't make any noticeable sound.

Subwoofer not working properly after a few mins playing

Get a hold of the woofer connector (I believe its brown) right by the whoofer and move it around/press it/disconnect and reconnect and check if the woofer comes on. There is a bad connection in the connector for the woofer itself. I have a 2001 GLE my self and that's what I found to be the problem with mine.
