I recently bought this product and I am very unclear how to use it. I've installed the device and the drivers and everything seems to be working alright. Then I had to scan for channels. I scanned using the format NTSC_M and it only found 2 channels. I live in Omaha, NE and I am using Cox Cable and just have the basic cable package and digital internet service. I know this device does not accept digital cable. So basically what I'm asking is does anybody know why I would only be getting two channels? If you need more information, I will do my best to provide it. Thanks.

- I'll get more time to mess around with it early next week.
You might be right about scanning ATSC because that is what seems logical since I'm only getting two channels but I'm pretty sure I didn't select that. Anyways, I'll have to try the video source button. Thanks for the help. I'll repost probably Monday of next week hopefully with a solution.

- Just didn't get enough time to mess around with the software. Once I did, this solution worked fine...thanks for the help.
First check to make sure your coax cable is in the correct slot, (Make sure it is plugged into the outside port). The other port on there is the ATSC antenna which would only be useful for over the air broadcasts if your area has them (I believe Omaha, NE would be able to get KETV over the air)and if you have an applicable antenna.
You are using the proper format (NTSC_M), if you are using the WinTV application, on the upper left side of the screen you will see your channel up/down buttons, in-between them is an addition button for video source, try changing this to see if you are able to scan more channels. My initial reaction is that you are using the ATSC tuner for scanning the channels.
I will check back frequently to check for more information for you.

Here is my setup: HP Desktop m8100n. Vista Home Premium x86t. Hauppage Win TV HVR-1600 NTSC/ATSC Combo. Windows Media Center. Satellite: Dish Network Receiver DVR 522. I have the coax running from the receiver (TV 1 out) to "cable in" at back of desktop. I was able to setup the signal, though once it gets to the remote control setup it relays that it was able to recognize it, but then can't change the channel with the receiver. I have the IR cable plugged into slot 1 and the end stuck right in front of the Dish DVR receiver IR sensor. I can't record anything because it says the my IR cable isn't installed and it can't change to the channel. I would be happy just recording live . I have researched online and tried every alternate way of setting up the channels to no avail. I can watch tv fine. I was able to get the guide setup. I read online that one guy useda universal remote and that worked for him, though I would prefer to resolve the issue and get it working as it properly should. I tried setting Media Center up without the remote, but for some unacceptable reason, you can't set it up without a remote. Thanks so much for your time. Chris

I have a WinTV HVR 1600 and Comcast has forced me to get a cable box to continue to get the analog input. It works great with WinTV version 6 software, but I cannot get it to work with Windows Media Center. I can still get digital TV over the air through WMC. Is there an update to Win TV Scheduler so I can record shows by timer through Win TV?
