Re: Spring off

The spring is probably from the toner cartidge. This machine takes a FX3 cartridge. There is guard on the cartridge that shield the drum from damage as you insert and remove the cartridge from the machine.Look on the top right hand side of the machine and you should see a hairpin style spring. If it isn't there, then thats probably it. Now this guard piece relies on the spring for proper operation of the cartridge as it uncovers the connections that mate with the ones in the machine. Also as you insert the cartridge, an actuator lever is depressed that tells the machine there is a cartridge present. You will have to replace the cartridge to make the machine work if you can't relocate this spring properly.

Re Olympia manual typewriter - the ribbon spool does not turn/rotate when the typewriter keys are punched. Result - ribbon wears out fast.

The ribbon advance on these machines is a rachet system, underneath the ribbon. one of 2 likely things.

1. typewriter has nor been serviced in a long time and rachet system is gunked up; or

2. detent spring has broken or popped off.

You may be able to spray some contact cleaner down in the ratchet system, or take it it in for a servicing.
If the spring is popped off, you can re-install it. You should be able to see where it goes. There will be an arm between 2 toothed gears, just flopping . It has been a looong time since I have worked on a manual typewriter!

Hope this helps

I have a Brother Intellifax 4100 Fax machine. I may have pulled the paper cathrudge out to abruptly because a 3/4 spring was dislodged from somewhere - I have not identified where it belongs. As a...

best guess is it belongs under the paper lift plate in your paper tray, remove the paper tray and all the paper, there should be a metal paper lift plate in the paper tray, these are typically spring loaded to lift the paper into place. lift the plate and check the underside for the location of the spring, there is usually a retainer of some sort to hold the spring in place. once the spring is in place the tray should feed correctly.

Hope this is of some help.

Paper will not feed via ADF in Canon laser class 510 fax. keeps saying reset document when we try to fax or copy using either ADF or scanner. Briefly received error E337 (or could have been E377).

there is probably something in the paper path, double check and make sure no piece of paper is in it.
there is a small lever in the adf this is the sensor it should be able to move freeely and have a spring action, is it stuck?
are the guides set, and set to Letter?

You may have removed the paper but the reason why it is still saying paper jam can be caused by at least two things.

If you removed the paper, but it tore while you were taking it out then a small piece could be blocking a sensor or a sensor flag ( a spring loaded finger that the paper has to activate as it moves through the machine) It's possible that a small piece of paper could be blocking a sensor or you may have disloged one of these 'flags' in the area where you first removed the paper. Go back and look closely in that area for a piece of paper or a sticking ''flag'. Until you do that the fax keeps thinking that there is something in the paper path and will keep displaying that message.

check these locations carefully
1- where you feed the documents there is a sensor lever to detect a document, look carefully and push on it gently it should go back in place ( spring action)
2-before the drum there should be one
3- there is one in the fuser, YOU MUST look for the sensor usually after a jam a piece of paper is torn off and left on the sensor ( hopefully it was not broken off)

Led Alarm turn on message: change the Cartridge

I'm not sure which spring you mean. From what you are saying, it could be one of the springs that keeps the drum cover closed on the cartridge itself. In this case it's probably that you are using a cheap re-filled cartridge that hasn't been assembled correctly. The cover is designed with a piece that actuates the sensor which tells the machine that a cartridge is present. My suspicions are that this sensor has become misaligned and needs to be replaced. Keep looking and you will find it. Any drawings Canon provide won't show clearly enough to work with.
