The master Windows volume control is set very low. In Control Panel, Sound Devices, raise the slider bar for "Master Volume".

you need to record louder by raising the input level or getting closer to the microphone. you can also raise the level afterwards using normalization, compression or gain adjustment.

Uninstall the audio driver and chipset, then Try to install Directx9 then chipset then audio driver in that order. Reboot between each install. The not-so-great swami of CB's predicts that if you increase the talk-back on that fine upd858 chassis, you're aking for trouble in the form of squealing. Particularly if you use one of them eye-legal leenyer power amplificators.

It will be one or more of the following -

Fuse
Diode
Capacitor
Transformer
Magnetron
