Question about Canon CanoScan D1250U2F Flatbed Scanner

CanoscanD1250U2 I previous used the scanner with OS Windows XP with no problems. On my new computer I have Windows Vista and even after following all instructions from the CANON website and updating the drivers, my scanner will not work. I receive the following error messages. "This application needs elevation" and User Account Security requests permission to open the programme each time, then asks me if I wish to resolve the problem online. This directs me back to Cannon's website. Even following all the support information after opening an incident number I still have no resolution to my prblem.

I am fairly sure this is Vistas UAC, coming into play, I think you need to Elevate the Permissions to Administrator for it to Install and work. here is an explanation below. Sometime you must "Install" the software in "Compatibility Mode" also. You have to be an "Administrator" to do certain things in Vista and the User Account Control has to be setup correctly to work.

Point # 1 : Electronic devices are not made to be used sparingly or stored for long periods of time.

Point # 2 : 5-6 years is not 'barely' in-terms of an electronic device's lifetime (Given that the warranty for your device is about 1 year !).

Need driver to install CanoscanD1250U2 on Win7

Unfortunately that scanner is not officially supported by Windows 7, but the Canon D1250U2 Vista driver may work for Windows 7 too.

I need a driver for lide80 canoscan scanner

What OS do you have? The drivers (supported OS versions) for the LiDe 80 are available here: . If you have Win7 64-bit, the Vista x64 driver doesn't work even in the compatibility mode.

If you want a work-around for the 64-bit OS, Win7 Pro and Ultimate allow you to download and install XP mode free. This takes two programs, Virtual PC and the XP mode, that you download from Microsoft and install. This will run a virtual computer under Win7 and you can install the scanner to the virtual computer. To share files with the real computer, you should store them on external media.

Alternatively for Win7x64, you can install any of the other Virtual computer programs (Parallels, VMWare, etc) with a licensed older version of Windows. Then do the same as above. Another option is a dual boot computer with the older licensed version of Windows with the scanner installed to the "machine" with the older OS. I don't see a Unix driver for this scanner so you need a valid copy of Windows.

Cant use with windows vista there a way around

Some hardware can be run in compatibility mode. Download and install the Windows XP drivers from this website. If it fails, run the compatibility routine to see if it will fix the problem. The Vista OS may tell you to check for problems. Follow this to see if the OS resolves it for you. According to the Canon website, the newest driver is the XP one.

Have the drivers been updated for Visioneer Onetouch 8920 scanner

Below is a link to the list  of the only scanners that VISIONEER has written a Vista driver for(and not likly to write any more for former scaners.)  Your model in not on that list. Unless, for some reason , they decide to write a Vista driver,you will never bve ableo to use that scanner with the Vista  OS. No one else will ever write one either.     Please don't rate me badly for telling the whole truth even thought you may not like it.

Installing scanner on windows XP

it depends on the model of your scanner, some manufacturers have a subsequent driver for any windows OS platforms, for newer OS like XP and Vista sometimes it is available.

most likely if you will tell me what brand and model we should be able to find an appropiate solution for this

Not working on vista

Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not released a driver for that scanner to work with Vista. That scanner will only work with Windows XP / 2000 / Me / 98SE. The following link shows the list of scanners that Visioneer is making Vista drivers for:
