Re: no data connection

I am having the same problem at this very moment. My service just has the blinking X and when I called tmobile they told me to do all these soft and hard resets and nothing worked I think it actually made it worse because right after that my phone wouldnt sign on at all. So i considered doing the warranty thing, but then when I turned my phone on again it let me sign back into my account but I still have the blinking X. This problem seems like it will never be fixed because tmobile cant even help and rhey should have all the answers. I love my sidekick but Im getting really tired of this. This is going to be my last sidekick

Re: no data connection

This is happening to my SideKick3 as well. 2 months ago (my phone is about 2 years old) it started losing connection to the network randomly. The "G" will turn into an icon of a solid phone breifly, then into the icon of an outlined phone. I'll still have perfectly full bars, but no service. Then, it'll randomly get the "G" again and presto, i have service again. I'll have days when I can't connect at all, or only 5 minutes at a time. Other days, i'll have perfect connection w/o any problems. It becomes INTENSELY aggravating and frustrating dealing with a "broken" sidekick3. If it is just a "defective SIM card" as suggested (the other 2 suggestions don't apply with me), then I need to get it replaced..but I don't want to spend money replacing something if this isn't the case. Right now, I luckily have service and the "G", but five minutes ago, I had the outline of the phone with full bars... PS: I soft-reset, hard-reset, and toggle the wireless ON/OFF constantly in hopes of retrieving the "G" when it fails. Only SOMETIMES it will work and stay with the "G"...most of the time, it fails to connect.

Re: no data connection

THis can mean one of three things: You are in an area that does not have GPRS/Sidekick coverage. The Sidekick feature has been removed from your account. Your SIM card is defective. Try power cycling the phone and resigning in.

Re: no data connection

There are 2 ways
1. go to the main screen, click the menu button, then go to airplane mode, click turn wireless off, then after like 2 minutes click wireless: on.

if that doesn't work then just turn ur phone off and on

Wifi is set up, how do I connect to it without going on line via vodafone? Thanks

When you are connected to an Wi-Fi network, internet data should flow through it, instead of your carrier's data plan. You can verify this behaviour looking at the notification bar: the Wi-Fi icon (blue bars) is in the positition usually reserved for the mobile network one (G, E, 3G, H), and not side by side with it. To be sure that your carrier's data plan won't be used, go to 'Menu > Settings > Data manager > Data delivery' and untick 'Data enabled'.
Hope it works for you.
Anyway, please, let me know if I can help you any further.
Regards, Carlos

Im using htc f3188 phone and im using idea as network . i rechaged my phone with 97 net pack. but no body is able to do net setting. plz help me out plz plz plz

Use this address to get your settings info:

Connecting to the Internet When you turn your phone on for the first time (with the SIM card inserted), it should connect automatically to your mobile operator's data service. You can start browsing the web straight away.
Checking your current data connection settings Your phone has been set to connect automatically to the Internet through your mobile operator's data service. If you don't get a connection automatically, check your network connection settings.
  1. From the main Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings > Wireless controls.
  2. Make sure that Mobile network is turned on.
  3. Tap Mobile network settings, and then check the following:
    • Automatic setup is turned on.
    • The name of your mobile operator is displayed in the Network operators item.
    • The right mobile network is displayed in the Access point names item. If it's not the right network, see your phone's user guide to find out how to add a new access point.
Turning the data connection off You can turn off the data connection to help optimize your phone's battery life or to save money on data charges.
  1. From the main Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings > Wireless controls.
  2. Turn the data connection off by tapping the Off/On switch of Mobile network. (Tap this switch back on if you want to connect to the Internet again.)

Why do I have an 'E' on the side of the signal bar instead of the anthena icon? and how do I fix it?

I think the E refers to what speed data network you can connect to.
My phone shows an E or 3G symbol depending on where I am.

Shows the media net icon when im not useing media net

Which media net icon? The media net icon in your menu or the one on the top status bar? Do you have a data or media net plan with AT&T? It probably is showing this just because it is telling you that your data connection is active. You can remove the WAP settings if you would like, that will turn this off.

If you want to try to remove the profile, try this:

Press “Menu” to enter main menu and according the following step to select “Settings” -> “Connectivity” -> “Network” -> “Network Profile” ->“Data connections” -> any profile to be edited -> Press “Options” key -> and delete the profile

I use my nokia N70 for connecting my pc to internet.I connect my phone through both bluetooth and usb.I connect to internet using one touch access.I had no problems at all in the past. But recently i have...

We want to change the properties for our connection to the internet. This is the adapter we want to share "from". Just right-click in the corresponding icon and select Properties.

The Bluetooth Network adapter was automatically created during the Bluetooth installation.

There's a bug in Windows 2000 before SP3 where changing the sharing option may change IP configurations in this adapter. To make sure you're safe, we will note the current configuration.

In the General tab select the Internet Protocol components and click Properties.
Write down all the information from the next dialog, and click Cancel.
Back in the Adapter properties, select the "Sharing" tab and tick "Enable Internet Connection Sharing for this connection".
Now, to configure the Bluetooth USB, right- click the Bluetooth icon in the system tray and select Advanced Configuration.
Change to the Local Services tab and double click "Network Access".
Change the type of service to "Allow other devices to acces the Internet/LAN via this computer".

The alternative to this option will allow your device to connect to your computer as part of a LAN, but will not have internet access.

Note the Configure Connection Sharing button: it'll open the configuration screens we've visited before. But some Bluetooth software will not have this button, hence I guided you through the other route .
Now, on your Pocket PC... Tap the Bluetooth icon the the status bar and select Bluetooth Manager.
You'll see your notebook or desktop here, and if it's out of range a question mark (like in the mobile icon in the picture).

Tap the icon corresponding to your computer or notebook.

If the computer does not show here, the devices are not paired! Go back and pair then.
Tap the Actions menu option.
Tap the "Connect to Network Access" option.
If all is ok, you'll see the message "Connected for Network Access" here !
Just start using your favorite programs... ICQ, Pocket Outlook, MSN Messenge, Pocket Internet Explorer .
Yes, visit the Geekzone mobile, or browse the internet from the sofa...

"Hmmm, what's on the movies tonight?"
If you tap the Bluetooth icon in the status bar again...
You'll see the computer or notebook is connected .
To disconnect, simply tap the connection icon in the status bar, and tap the Disconnect button.
And this is the result of disconnecting...
To check your connection from the desktop or notebook, double-click My Bluetooth Places, and open My Device.
The icon in green show which Bluetooth profile is in use right now. Right-click My Network Access, and select Properties to see its current status.
That's it!

When i select my Linksys WiFi connection on my Iphone I still has the "E" edge symbol on my Status bar even though wifi is selected.

You can tell iPhone is connected to the Internet over a cellular data network if you see ht1695_utms_onb.png,ht1695_3b.jpg or ht1695_gprs_onb.png in the status bar at the top of the screen.

Do you have problems connecting to any other wireless network with your iPhone?

Have you tried using the forget this network option on your iPhone for your wireless network followed by trying to connect to the network again, and/or using the reset network settings option on your iPhone which erases all previously saved wi-fi connections that you have successfully connected to with your iPhone?
Let me know....

Click on this link or copy and paste the complete link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Internet on or off?

The phone only uses internet when it needs to download something or if browsing the internet. If it is on the data network (internet) it will show two arrows immediately beside the bars that are shown for cell tower strength.

Dont confuse it with the Wi-Fi which is a seperate icon and has a antenna with a circle on top + beacon

If you do not want your phone to get messages automatically make sure you go to programs>windows live>menu>options>sync schedule>set sync frequency to manual. This will make it so it will only sync when you go to the mail tab or inbox and press send/recieve in menu.

Also go to settings in touchflo (home) > data > make sure download weather automatically + when roaming is uncheck.

If you are really concerned about internet usage, ask for your data to be blocked. Carriers usually don't like you doing this, so tell them 'are you sure' etc. and just be 'forceful' in a nice way :P
