Why isn't My Kenmore Heavy Duty 70 Series Soft Heat Extra Capacity Electric Dryer drying clothes on any one cycle?

One possibility: Air flow! Make sure that the lint trap is cleaned before each cycle. You likely need to thoroughly clean out the vent piping out the back of the machine- a buildup of lint in here can also restrict airflow.

Kenmore Dryer 70 series electric-quit heating and timer wont shut

This link will help you in diagnosis/disassembly/parts.

Possibly a faulty heat element is most common failure. Fix the no heat problem and the dryer should shut off ok.
Make sure you have correct voltage to the unit before tearing apart. Again visit the link above

Kenmore Series 70 Dryer

I'm not familiar with your dryer model but general advice regarding dryers with the problem that you have described would be to ensure that any filter on the outlet is clean, whether it be a condenser or traditional external vent.

Ensure, if it is vented rather than condensing (only connected to a drain) that the vent tube has clear access to expel the damp air circulated during the drying process.

If the wash load is heating to a substantial temperature in the dryer, it isn't the element causing the problem.

Kenmore 70 Series

The most likely cause is a bad ignitor part number 279311. It has to glow to open the valve and ignite the gas. You should hear a loud click when you first start the dryer. That tells us there is voltage to the gas valve.

Kenmore 70 Series Dryer Model# 110.64742400

check the thermal fuse if it is blown also change the high limit thermal cut-off fuse www.repairclinic.com shows your parts. go there and enter model number. Also check the heat element. to get into it remove the lint filter and the two screws you'll see there then pry the top up at the front corners. And through the back you should find the heat element and blower housing and thermal fuse and high limit fuse and cycling thermostat.

Kenmore 70 Series

You probably have an open thermal fuse, the dryer will run in some cases and not heat, Just moving air across you clothes will dry them however it takes forever.

If you are electrical or mechanical replace the thermal fuse yourself if not call someone you trust, you can purchase thermal fuses on line from Sears.com just do a parts search for you specific dryer.
