Re: red ghosts

Red convergence went haywire... you need to relace I'm thinking two convergence ICs mounted on heatsink on convergence panel. replace both for usually they both blow replace any burnt resitors too, and hardest of all now you need to reconverge the whole thing.....which is a fine art.....u might be able to do it with the remote ...but u need a manual to go throught the steps really ..but not me i do em in my sleep. take it to shop unless your technical.

Blinking of the the LED (yellow and blue) at the front panel indicating that the lamp door cover is not seated properly. Go back to the lamp door cover and ensure that it is properly seat-in.
3D, 2D, red/green/blue ghost on the picture and letters means that the convergence circuitry gone bad. Symptoms is not connected to the light engine. The faulty parts is the convergence chips(IC). This chips are mounted on the large aluminum heat sink and starts with STKXXXX-XX (X means number). The most common STK chips used on Projection TV's is the STK392-110. You have to replaced them both on the board to resolve the issue(red ghosting). It is necessary also to check the resistance value of the resistors around its circuitry using the multimeter. I have a tz61v61 toshiba rear projection. The bottom half of the screeen is ghosting red, blue and green. it looks like 3d without the glasses. top half of screen is fine.

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as

Red-striped ghost images.

when you leave your TV (no matter what kind) and you leave it for long periods of time on a static image or something.. the image tends to burn in to the screen... so changing the glass would be a way to fix it.... the problem is that that kind of repairmen is more expensive and difficult than buying a new set...
