It is either the Plasma display panel or a upper or lower buffer board. If the display is bad, they are almost the price of a new set. I suggest letting a local service company look at it to be sure.

The C5 board is bad. It is replaceable. Warning. always disconnect power cables from power board to y main on left and x main on the rt before ever messing with fat cables on boards across the bottom . The are created if power power is not isolated will vaporize these flat cable destroying the plasm panel. thes boars across the bottom are the c boards. If one of the connectors is loose it will create an vertical black bar in proximity to that connector. If the connector is not loose then replace that board. Also panel could be bad if c board does not fix. But remember to never connect or dissconnect these flat without disconnecting the power board from the sustain boards.
Two possibilities are there. The first one is, with loose LVDS cable, that connects the T'Con board to display panel. The second is the fault with its main digital processor board. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
hi... It sounds like an Intergrated Circuit (IC) has fried. Your best bet in this situation is to contact ur tv service operator and let them recommend an authorized service center in your area....
Ok if your hitachi TV dies with no power anywhere try this: Some models have a kill switch under the bottom edge. It's like a gray switch like a small light switch press it back in and voila let there be LIGHT. Saves you at least a $200 trip to repair shop!!
I noticed a bright horizonal line about 1/4 in.wide centered in the middle running from side to side. Audio is fine. This just all of a sudden happened it was not gradual.
