Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console
Whenever i put in a Ps2 game and it reads it, it always says "DISK READ ERROR" I tryed it with all different games and it still says the same.
Hi Emily, this is the ABSOLUTE fix to that problem. Put 1 piece of tape (2 pieces total) on each side of the hole thats in the center. The 2 pieces of tape should be parallel to each other and as close to the hole without touching it. Use regular clear "invisible" tape. If it does not work with just 1 piece, add another piece of tape directly on top of the other pieces to make it thicker. OR just use the sticky part of a post-it which is a little thicker than regular tape. I tried this the 1st time, & have not had any further problems for 6 years!

Oh dear or dear this old chesnut seems to be a regular issue with Ps2's. I've worked on these for years and the lasers rarely burn out but the frequency does drop quite often leaving a Ps2 that can't read discs.
The usual way to properly fix this bar replacing the laser unit is to adjust the DVD pot underneath the laser 1 eigth of a turn clockwise raising the frequency of the laser thus rendering discs readable once more. There are guides on the net for this. Only to be tried by those confident enough to open their Ps2 and use a proper plastic pot tool as most screwdrivers will mess the head of the pot up unless your extremely careful
