I have Hp color laserjet 2600n -when i print a color document, the left hand side of the page is faded, the middle and right hand side of the document prints fine. Internal documents print perfectly- this problem only occurs when I print a document from my iMac. Apple technicians tell me this is a printer problem. how do i solve it? I am very new to a Mac, so i would basically need to be handheld through the process.

Same Problem

-   I have the same problem with the left side being very faded.  I checked the "Supplies Status Page" and all the colors except for the Magenta are printing correctly.  The magenta color bar is faded on the left side.  I changed to a new cartridge but the status page still shows the fading problem.  This laser printer is too pricey to be having these issues.  At about $85 a pop for a cartridge I already feel like I've been ripped off!

-   I have the same problem and I use a PC. I originally had a the 1600 and had the same issue. I took it for repair and it apparently did not repeat for them, but lo and behold it still had the problem. Started using the 2600n and now have the same issue. Did you happen to get any feedback about it from anyone or anywhere? -   allocc

According to HP if the problem is only when you print from your PC or Mac then you need to reinstall the printer driver. If the problem is also when you print just from the printer, i.e. scanning or test page, then the problem is with the printer.

We've solved our problem with the fading red tones. It's dust build up on the mirrors and lenses. Very, very, touchy area! The entire machine needs to be taken apart and those areas cleaned. We did that and it worked like a new machine, but, WOW, quite the process. You need lots of patience! I found the info on how to take the machine apart on a website by Don Thompson's Service Seminars. I don't have the website anymore, but you should be able to locate it with his name. It's labled FADING RED TONES ON COLOR LASERJET 2600s. Good luck

i think like Mac technicians, the problem are in your printer, you need remove from the printer the laser/scanner assy, and clean mirrors and lenses, reasembly and try.
