If you've forgotten your screen lock pattern, you have up to five attempts to try and unlock HTC Wildfire S.
If this fails, you can unlock HTC Wildfire S by entering your Google Account user name and password.

1. On the unlock screen, enter your lock pattern.
2. After the fifth attempt, when you're asked to wait for 30 seconds, tap OK.
3. If the display goes off, press the POWER button to turn the display back on, and then unlock the screen.
4. Tap the Forgot pattern? button when it appears.
5. Enter your Google Account name and password, and then tap Sign in. You'll then be asked to create a new screen lock pattern. If you no longer want to do so, tap Cancel.

if you have forgotten your pattern lock, just give a few more tries to continue, then a message will display, the OS will report "attempts exceeded", then enter your gmail address and in the textbox for password just give value as NULL this will instantly ask for new pattern lock and you are done!

After you put the pattern in a few times incorrectly it will lock the phone and an option at the bottom will appear that says "Forgot Pattern?" Select that and enter your email and password to unlock the phone.

First thing you need to do is turn off the visible pattern. Go to Settings > Security and uncheck Use Visible Pattern.
Next, Click on Change Screen Lock (Still in Settings > Security). Enter your pattern, and choose what type of Unlock security you would like to use (in your case, either PIN or Password, pin being purely numeric, and password being alphanumeric)
Enter your pin or password, confirm it, and your done!
