Question about Epson Stylus C84 InkJet Printer

Print not working

Installed 3 new ink cartridges (Genuine Epson cartridges). None worked. Tried "Nozzle Check" - no lines for the new colours. Took out one, and shook it - still did not work. Turned printer off and on again - still nothing. Note - all 3 were really low when I replaced them, because after the first replacement did not work, I tried the "Nozzle Clean" function at least 3 times, so it ran the other 2 cartridges to less tha 5%.

Re: Print not working

Follow the instruction in my previous post on under head cleaning. Complete the routine and see if any improvement is achieved. If not you may have a problem with the tubes connected to the cleaning station. This will require pulling the machine apart and is to detailed to enter into here. You could contact for info on the countermeasure for the loss of suction and a service manual to help you pull it apart. Try the cleaning first though -> Let me know how you get on.

How do I stop lines on the epson 4515

Cleaning only helps if there is still ink in the cartridges.
If you print the nozzle check, you can see what colour is having problems to print.
And when you are sure there is still ink in the cartridge, you could try to remove the cartridge, and in the printer, where the cartridge was, you could put a drop of cleaning fluid in the nozzle on the bottom. Then try printing one or two pages on full colour, till the ink starts coming through.

Be aware, sometimes just a bit of dust is traveling wit the print head, blocking the ink too. But then you see smear on the paper.
Always be sure the underside of the print head does not have debris traveling with the head.
Almost impossible to see, but epson sometimes delivers special cleaning paper. It is a pice of paper, with a special pice of sticky tape. Sometimes it comes with the Ultra Glossy Photo Paper. Use it.

I have bought new genuine Epson ink cartridges, installed them correctly and although the settings are recognizing that there are 4 full, genuine cartridges it is not printing any black ink. I have done a...

I know it sounds stupid but do you have the old black cartridge, if you do put it back and see if it is printing even if the quality is poor and faded. If it is then possibly there is a contact bad, try swittching the black cartridge for one of the other colour ones, but put a colour in to the black space but don't put the black into one of the colour spaces. If the colour one is working in the black space then it's basically a dud cartridge and bring it back to where ever you got it from. Hope it works for you - Pat

Will not print one colour

theres your first problem, restrain from using non original/genuine inks because it might lead to a more serious error in the future, one solutions you could do is to check the nozzle of the yellow ink, it is the pear shaped just where you insert the ink cartridges, check for clogs, there are about 4 to 6 holes, all of them should be clog free. try also cleaning the copper terminals, it is where the copper terminals of the cartridges meet, clean it with a cotton cloth, try NOT to touch them, specially with an oily hand. it is where the signals from the printer relays to the cartridge when to spray ink.

Hi, when printing the page is full black. After head clean, nozzle check etc still black & nozzle check prints two x dark lines. I changed ink cartridges but no improvement. Thanks, Roger

Did you use Epson Genuine Cartridges?

ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That sounds like your problem.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.

These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

Hello! I don't use my Epson PictureMate as often

That is a problem with the Ink jet printers. Lack of use causes the cartridges/heads, etc. to dry up. You're only solution (I'm afraid) is to replace them.
TIP: If you're typically not using the printer for several days or even week(s) at a time, it never hurts to print a single (low coverage) page of colour every few days just to keep the ink flowing

Not printing magenta ink and tried cleaning heads already

Hi, one or two head cleans won't clear a clogged nozzle. Try doing 4 or 5 head cleans, wait about 10 hours for the ink to soften and do another 3 or 4 cleans with a nozzle check after each. You should see a gradual improvement in the nozzle checks. If there is no improvement then you need a head cleaning solution such as this one:

Others are available just try googling "inkjet head cleaning".
Note that head cleaning uses between 5 and ten percent of your ink cart's, if any are low on ink have some new ones ready. Hope this helps.
Please take a moment to rate this solution, thanks.

Status Monitor says ALL ink cartridges empty

Using recycled ink cartridges in your inkjet printer is never a more economical way to do colour printing, unless you are willing to become a master technician on your particular product and have ready access to print heads and machine engine unit replacements, you will also need manufactures service software/website to reset waste counters/error codes.

It is expensive to print in colour full stop. Printing cost is at least 30cents inkjet and 10cents toner/laser per sheet

Laser b/w and colour is far cheaper per sheet, but setup costs are one time expensive but they are also a lot more reliable printing system.

Your machine will stuff up sooner rather than later when using non genuine consumable, and when it does it will cost more than the machines worth to even look for repair, so be prepared if choosing this road to purchasing a new printer every few cartridges if you are lucky.

If your using non genuine products and you want machine looked at by a professional the first thing you will need to do is install all genuine products in to your machine to allow correct fault diagnostics to be done, this is before any repair cost that maybe incurred.

Recycled/refills/aftermarket ink cartridge faults include – not recognizing ink, poor print quality, error codes, wont come to ready, erratic carriage movement, lines, waste counter issues and also paper feed problems, circuit board/connection faults caused by leaked ink .Not all faults are immediately apparent it takes time for the poison ink to replace that in the supply system then issues begin.

Cheap printing can be achieved using b/w lasers they cost less than 2 cent per sheet and have a brilliant reputation for print quality and dependability. Then if you need the occasional colour go to the shop, let them have the hassle, stress, time and expense of running the machines and the cost is still relatively cheap to you.

There are many consumers still printing with 10 year old laser machines, you would be extremely lucky to find a 3-5 year old inkjet.

If you must recycle well buy one that has already been proven to be adaptable to the concept, so that means go back to older units that went so clever.

Older Lexmarks, Epsons and HP were once easy targets, there was and is a lot of development gone into managing bulk ink deleivery systems, software has been cracked and parts can be sourced.

Inkmizer canon/epson bulk ink modified printers

Chipresetter be prepared for some frustrations and mess.

P.s. Most new machines come with starter inks that do not contain as much as new ones ussally 3ml instead of 5ml to enable cheaper selling cost, but also note that about 2ml of ink is in the tubes that run from ink carts to print head.
