Bosch washer - drainage blocked. I was able to remove the front cover and drain all of the water and clean out minimal debris. Washer sounds a little better, but wanted to clean out the anti siphon valve behind the drain tube to make sure it is completely cleared. I have the back of the washer off, but can't figure out how to separate that tube to clean it out. Any suggestions?

2. Remove all the water you can via a siphon hose technique.
3. Remove drain line from its drain and put it in a shallow bucket on floor and drain out whatever water it may have. Turn off cold and hot water feeds and remove drain lines. Drain water from them.
Now for the hard work - a helper is probably needed. You may wish to take digital photos of things before you take them apart so you get them back together properly later (I strongly recommend you do this). Get the tool box, a flash light, and an extension light out - you will need them.
4. Tip washer over on its side - and watch for and collect any water that it may have still in it. Remove the drain hose from the water pump (the drain hose connects to the pump). Remove belt from water pump. Remove water pump and take it apart. Make sure nothing is blocking the pump itself (a laundry item may be there); reassemble pump and make sure it spins freely at the belt pulley. Check the drain line from tub to pump - and make sure it is clean. You usually have to also remove the solenoid valve that is opened to permit draining as well - just follow the line to the tub. Make sure solenoid valve feed line has nothing blocking it. Once the entire drain line, drain solenoid valve, and pump are clear and clean, reconnect everything properly. Return washer to upright position. Connect water hoses and drain line.
You need to check the drain pump externally to see if the pumping is good Also remove the drain hose clamps and remove the drain hose flushing to clear off all dirt. Now test using power to see if this works and can be simulated. When refitting, the hose must be tightened properly. If the pump/valve does not work even with power then it must be replaced. If there is intermittent power to the drain valve/pump then the program controller unit is a suspect.
Finally the washer must be placed with a tilt- use a spirit level- so that all water will drain to the outlet port and thereby there is no residual water remaining.
Replacing the pump on a Bosch machine, please check this link for tips:
what this means is that there is a blockage from the drain what you need to do to fix up the problem is to bale out all the water from the drum then you will fine the cloth or the dirt that have block the drainage remove it then the problem of the block drainage is solve.
please make sure that all forms of power supply is disconnected from the washer when doing this
There should be a filter located at the bottom right front of washer behind drop down flap or plastic cover.
Unscrew anti-clockwise to remove and clean.
look for a front plate lower right corner / remove plate and inside is 3 in drain cleanout . ccw will remove and clean basket . cw to reinstall . should correct problem. mm
F3 is a drain problem, check that the drain hose on the back is not kinked, if not then you may have a restriction in the drain pump. Follow these instructions:
The washing machine has a trap, where coins, hairpins and the like can get caught. To clean the filter and drainage pump: 1. Make sure the machine is empty of water and that it is switched off or better still unplugged,
2: Open the hatch on lower front of machine for the drainage pump,
3: Drain out the water, into a bowl, for example, by unhooking the drainage hose from the pin inside the hatch. You may have to remove plug in the end of hose, be careful, as water should flow real good from hose, if water does not flow from hose and you see water inside of tub area with door closed then stop here and call a tech for repair, if water flows then allow water to fully drain out, then
4: Unscrew the cover anti-clockwise and remove. You should then be able to see what is inside trap. More than likely you washed a rug and it came apart and blocked drain pump.
5: re-install in the reverse order and then try machine. In some cases you have to do this two or three times in a row to get it all out.
Look for a kinked drain hose. Make sure drain hose is not plugged. Remove drain hose from washer and inspect drain outlet on washer is not plugged. Stick your finger inside and feel for any clothing fabric ect blocking drain line. The washer may have a built-in screen that is plugged. You may need to remove the back cover of the washer and inspect drain hoses for any kinks or blockages.
You said, The pipe in the back is not clogged, it is wide open. When we removed
the cover for the pump in the front and open the valve, the water
obviously drains out. However, when you put it back together and try to
run it, it will go through a cycle and when it gets near the end of the
cycle that when the message appears drainage blocked and won't drain.
The electronic type washers , can be unplugged and after 5 minutes restarted and the system is then rebooted. This resets the system and clears the codes !
If the drain is not blocked then you have a faulty sensor or a bad pump
The Solution: Top up the softener tray with extra water so that it is up to the 'max level' mark.
The softener tray works by a siphon action. Thus, the reason the tray does not empty is that not enough water is added by
the machine during the softening cycle, so that the machine does not
completely fill the softening tray; only when the softening tray is
filled beyond the 'max' mark does the siphon action works. A partially
filled tray will never empty - it's impossible due to the siphon.
The reason that not enough water is added to the tray during the
softening action is that the water inlet of the machine is partial
blocked (you can try to fix that) but it is simpler to just added more
water to the conditioner tray.
Thus, the easiest way to ensure that the softener tray empties every
time (after adding the softener to the softener tray of course) is to
top up the softener tray with extra water, top it up to the 'max level'
line (keep a bottle of water by the machine). That way, even if only a
little water is added to the softener tray during the softening cycle
by the machine it is enough to trigger the siphon action and the tray
will empty!
Works for me every time, and no need to remove any parts - I used to
take the tray out, clean it, scrub the outlet holes that fill the tray
etc, but they used to gum up again quite quickly!
Dear gavinrolason,
Error code F-04 and F-05
Check the the connection of the drainage hose to your sink wastage, as it may be blocked and the drainage of water
impeded
Hope it helps, this info is applicable to W840/W860 Hotpoint Machines
