I went to turn on my ps3 to watch a dvd and the green light comes on it takes the disk and appears to work, except that wen i scan through the av channels to watch my film the av channels were all blank as if the ps3 simpley wasnt plugged into the tv. i double and trippled checked everything was joined up correctly and tried experimenting with other disks and tried a second tele just to be sure it wasnt the tv. my ps2 works on the tv with the same red/yellow/white scart lead that i tried with the ps3...help!

If your PS3 console is turned on and you have a PS3 disk inside but it only displays the Green LED and not the Blue One it means that your console is not capable of reading disks. This may be due to a faulty disk lense and might need to get replaced.
Turn the power off on the switch on the back, and then back on again. Hold down the power button, keep on holding it down after the first beep, but let go once another couple of beeps sound. It should then take at max a minute but then it should show a screen set up section.
I fixed this problem, but I'm still not entirely sure what went wrong. If I'm not mistaken, my wireless connection to the internet was causing it. I took my ps3 to my friend's house to see if he knew anything (who does not have wifi by the way) and we turned on the ps3 and it worked just fine. To be sure, I switched the internet connection settings to wired before I brought my playstation back home. Unfortunately, it only gave me the option to restore the hard disk. Somehow, this didn't delete all my game data, but I may have just gotten lucky. I can't gaurentee this will work for everyone, but I seem to have fixed the problem by terminating my ps3's wireless internet connection
now its not completely broken the problem is that it has a malfunction from the orange juice cuz wen tha OJ(orange juice)fell on tha front of tha ps3 it probaply caused a wiring circuit to malfunction the system u can get it repaired not really. if u have a reseat u can call the people and they will probaply send a box so u can put tha ps3 in then send tha package where they tell u to send it then a package will come to u MAKESURE it comes cuz it will go 2 tha wrong hands lol then wen u get tha package u probaply notice its a new 1 or its just repaired now ur happy LLOOLL UR WELCOME
I have the same system, except for the TV, I have a project (that part doesn't matter).
From your Sat. go straight to your AV receiver
Again from you Sat. (all of the AV outputs are all live), go out from either 1 or 2 and go to your recorder Line 1 in.
From you AV receiver go to your TV.
All you have to do is hit record and you will record whichever channel you are on. I am having difficulty getting it set up as a PVR, but will figure it out sooner or later.
if you have a SD TV. ( standard display, not HD ) but chose the HD display option on system settings you wont see picture but hear sound. and same goes if you've chosen SD display but own a HD TV. so try to reset your system somehow or take it in for inspection.
if it wont load your icons and freezes before your xmb, put it into safemode and try restoring the filing system. to get it into safemode...
hold down the power button while the console is in standby. the light will go from red to green.it will beep once flash green beep again, and then beep a third time. after the third beep the light will turn red.
once the light is red, take your finger off the power button and place it back on the power button. the light will go from red to green, beep once flash and then beep twice quickly. after it does the double beep, take your finge roff. the light will stay green and you'll get a screen asking you to connect the controller.
after connecting the controller, try option 3, or whichever option is restore filing system. this can possibly correct media loading and will 95% of the time fix the console when it freezes before loading up your icons(the xmb)
