Cant be done there is no default setting has to be done by eye and every single same brand big screen will have different settings. it all starts with the yoke windings and placement of the 3 yokes abd crts....then u converge...this is done at the factory by workers. but Ive seen once a factory setting button (that means you have a rom or cmos that was burned to the settings ,but usually it will need furter adjustments. the tech manual will explain it. good luck

Audio but only black screen for video on WS65807

First, the set has a hard reset but it will NOT affect convergence which is stored in a separate area of the set.

Model indicated has 3 hidden menus---all accessed with the Original remote and a 4 digit code.

At your own risk:

This is a V17 chassis that was used in 8 models.

It has 3 hidden tech menus: With set on:

Option menu is 8270 enter---The Option menu reset will return all settings to factory and also will clear any glitches out of the way--it as stated can cause Convergence not to be affected.

Circuit adjust menu: (stay out as one wrong move and fatal things can happen is : 8257 enter.

Convergence adjust menu: (better than customer and SAVES adjustments made in to the DCU or digital convergence unit in the set.

I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU TRY THE OPTION MENU FIRST, IF NEED DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS I CAN LOCATE THEM FOR STEP BY STEP OF THAT.

SEE IF IT CLEARS THE MAIN ISSUES UP FIRST---IF YOU TRIED TO ADJUST CONVERGENCE IT MAY NOW BE MESSED UP BUT UNLESS YOU GET THE SET BACK TO WORKING SOMEWHAT NORMAL NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

keep in mind I do this here for free and have worked on hundreds of these Mitsubishi sets.

NO PICTURE!!!! Please HELP! I am going to kill my husband for bringing this TV home!

If the model number is correct and all you can get is the menu or on screen displays to work the set may need to be reset--not on the front or in the menu.

The set has 3 hidden menus: adjustment (keep out), tech convergence, and the OPTION menu.

Option menu enables a hard reset to factory of all settings except convergence and is designed to fix odd issues.

You need the Mitsubishi remote and a 4 digit code (model specific).

If you have the remote and want to try it let me know what the actual model number is and I will give you a link to the service manual which tells how to do it correctly.

How to reset factory defaults

I will presume you have the model listed here and have the Mitsubishi remote in working condition.

These sets have 3 hidden menus: Adjustment (stay out of that one), Convergence, and the OPTION MENU.

The option menu is the one you would want--it requires that you turn set on--enter a 4 digit number that is model specific.

In the option menu you can do a HARD reset which puts everything except convergence back to factory (that is stored in another area).

The reset puts all settings back to factory--set will come on once done on channel 3 in air band etc.

Let me know model number here is or is not correct and I will give you a link to the service manual with page number to look at---explains how to do the reset. Not a bad idea to save that manual as it contains all kinds of good info on this set.

How do I reset my Mitsubishi WS-65908

Model number here has 3 hidden menus--adjustment (keep out of that one) and convergence, and OPTION menu.

In the Option menu with the Mitsubishi remote you can do a hard reset of entire set--sets everything back to factory except convergence adjustments.

This requires the Mitsubishi remote and a 4 digit number code.

I am willing to give that but first would like to know WHY you wish to do that as it will not cure all problems like dead set, convergence etc.

Remote control service code numbers to enter service screen to begin alignment

If you tell me here the model number I will get the code if possible.

the sets they made had two hidden service menus for Convergence and Alignment and both are entered using the original remote (universal will not cut it).

The screen has bowed lines and different colors no sound

If the model as indicate here (WS-55807) YOU may have two problems: Convergence and a audio problem.

In customer menu select convergence and with the Mitsubishi remote try to adjust the grid of lines so no red etc--if bowed it will not adjust.

This would mean the two stk-392-570 convergence chips this model uses need to be replaced(I have free start to finish instructions for that).

The no sound may and is likely a second issue: speakers in the menu may be switched off etc.

If both happened at the same instant this model has a hard reset(not from front of set but with a 4 digit code and done with the Mitsubishi remote) This sets everything except convergence adjustments back to factory original.

It is called the OPTION menu.

So, did both issues happen at exact same time or what?

Parts for the convergence repair are under 30 dollars total and I can tell you where.

Questions?

Bad convergence. do i need remote to converge unit? i can bring up menu and make those adj's by set top buttons. but i have three misaligned pic's

there is no convergence for these. the lcd panels are fixed. if they are out of alignment, you'll need to replace the entire optical engine. first reset the settings to factory default. see if that helps.
