The range is not working!

We've had our re router for about 10 months, and it has worked fine. But for a few days now, the range of the re router has not been working as it did when we got it. On our laptops (even when we go right next to the re router), we can not get full signal. Thanks. Goodcheesy

My router keeps timing out

One of the things to check first, is IF it's your ISP, your internet provider. Many of them will close connections or set you to reset your DHCP lease frequently. I noticed you did say it works fine to the modem. Does it work fine to the modem for extended periods of time? Or does the same thing happen eventually? I have a routine I run if an ISP drops bandwidth or connection if your inactive for too long, or you can call them and demand a longer DHCP lease time if that's the factor. Many cable and router companies don't even check this before they start replacing equipment such as modems or routers. IF the same thing happens when you stay connected to the modem from the computer directly for say a whole day, then we have to start looking at other potential issues. I am following the problem. Feel free to comment or whatever. I will check back frequently. If you would like to work through this problem I will assist you. It will take troubleshooting and a few steps. It's just not that simple with 1000s of things that can go wrong. This computer/Networking stuff is not Rocket Science. If it was we would never make it off the earth as broken/unfinished products are shiped and sold daily. Software is flawed. You have about 10 different corporations with nothing but profit as there motive involved. Feel free to contact me or we can do it here as well.

I've setup the router (edimax 3G-6200n)and all was working well for a couple of days. This morning however, only the power light is on. The LAN network cable is fine as i connected it directly to

If the only light you have on is the power light, it is most likely dead. You try unplugging the router then plugging it back in to see if this clears the issue. If it does, the issue will probably come back. Your best bet is to replace this router.

My Linksys WRT160N router is only partially functional. After working fine for several months, it now connects only maybe 1 time in 10 - and most of those connects are very slow and unstable. Occasionally,...

Please be sure your router is not too close to your cordless phone.
They both works on similar frequencies and the router can become unstable.

I am a novice with computers, but just had a Brighthouse "Lighting" modem installed. It goes straight to my RV042 router, which goes to the computer (and also a Mac Airport...better range than the modem)....

My laptop won't connect via wireless, and can't even find the network. It used to work fine until a few days ago. I have a netgear DG834G router

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router
is there any computer connected to the router ?
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
Router set up page is the page where you can check all the wireless settings of the router.

Wireless connection keeps dropping after about a day.

I had the same problem (see Jan 09) but I found the solution:
I had trouble with the router resetting from time to time, that was fixed by upgrading to firmware 1.05. But I still had the wireless problem.
For me, disabling 'UPnP' (advanced->advanced network) and disabling turbo G mode (setup->wireless setting) did the trick.
Work great since then, both my laptop and my media center stays connected, going on one month now.
Hope it can helps other.

Bad connection. dropped internet when connected with mac wired or wireless

I'm not sure but it could be that the particular router has some hardware issues. I bought a Belkin wireless N router a few months back and i had the same problem. It only had a short range and kept cutting off in between. I exchanged it with a new router and voila!. it works fine.
And the other thing i've come to notice. At times having the router under the desk or at a corner might not give off enough to provide a connection within the adjacent room so I've had to place the router in a open and unobstructed place. So much for belkins super signalling.
