Question about Canon MultiPASS F80 All-In-One InkJet Printer

"check Printer press resume key"

I was away for a couple of weeks. While I was away, the Black ink ran out, and the memory filled. I changed the Black Ink and now it says "check Printer press resume key". I have tried pressing the resume key, unplugging the unit, shutting down and a couple of suggestions on a previous page. Can you help? Worked great before this happened. Rock5219

There is no error code (##xxx). I tried to download the comprehensive manual, but got a "link no longer valid" message. I tried the power off, resume/power on, 2 x resume, then 4x resume, to reset ink tank. Did not get to any other mode to come up.

  • rock5219 Aug 17, 2007

No matter what I do, everytime I push the "resume" button, the print head cycles, and then warning light continues to flash. If I try to use any feature from the menu, I get a hi/lo repeating sound. The manual does not show how to reset the used ink tank. I can only guess this is the problem, as everything else has failed. And try this one :

    or this :

It could be due to "waste tank full" alarm; you may need to reset the waste tank counter.
     Try:
Resetting the Waste Ink Volume Counter

    1) Enter SERVICE MODE.---
    By pressing Menu-Copy-#

    2) Select TEST MODE.
    3) Select [8] PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE.
    4) Select 3. [EEPROM CLEAR].
    5) Select 0. [INK COUNT].
    6) Press the [OK] key.
    7) Press the [Stop/Reset] key (returning to the state of 3)), and then press the [ON/OFF] key.

Skip step (6) since there is no [OK] key

Try this to reset the used ink tank counters. I can't swear it works since I don't have one of these to test it on: 1) Enter SERVICE MODE by pressing menu-copy-scan-copy-copy 2) Select TEST MODE - off a menu I believe, not sure which choice it is on that menu 3) Select [8] PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE. 4) Select [3] EEPROM CLEAR I think this option is under test mode. If not, just look around the menus for it. 5) Select [0] INK COUNT 6) Press the [Set] key, or maybe it's just the [OK] key 7) Press the [Stop/Reset] key (returning to the state of 3)), and then press the [ON/OFF] key Let me know if that works.

Which suggestions did you try? There is a white data cable that connects to the moving printhead - where the other end connects to the back wall apparently often comes loose in this model and pressing it firmly back on may solve your problem. Do you get any error code below the "Check printer, press resume key" message? should be ## then a 3 figure code. If you want a bit more info (WOG) check this link; http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/inkjet/29437 Checking the waste ink tank also sounds worth it. Here is the link to the user manual if you need it; http://alpha03u.c-wss.com/inc/ApplServlet?SV=WWUCA900 download the "Comprehensive guide" and check; Page 90/91 and ensure ink cartridge is correctly installed and that the connection plates on the cartridge are totally clean and free of grease(soft dry cloth generally best). Do you have a memory card inserted? Check page 100 for details, make sure it was in correctly. remove it (page 31)completely and see if this makes a difference. Check page 72 and see if you can delete any messages from the memory - if you think you can't afford to delete them, see if you can copy the contents to the pc and then delete. Check page 114 for details of the error message. Do you get error messages on the PC? (page 117) Hope this helps, waiting on any info :)

Canon MP830 message re: waste tank full. How do I get to it to empty it or replace it.

The waste ink tank refers to may be a small well, surrounded by a
rubber ring, that sits under the cartridge when it is parked.
Place a cotton tip swab ("Q-Tip") over the hole to wick out the ink inside.

Problem with Canon MultiPASS F80

On the right side of the print cartridge carriage there are two small felt ink pads. When they fill with ink somehow the machine detects it. Mine started with the flashing light and check printer error code and then progressed to a nasty grinding sound everytime I hit resume or tried to reset the counter. I thought all was lost, but kept trying. I found two pads, one square and one rectangular. They aren't very spongy but they are full of ink. They are only about an inch across. I got them out without taking the printer apart and repeatedly soaked them in a little water until the water was clear, then I let them dry and replaced them in the little trays where they came from. I cleaned the plastic fins that were nearby and coated with ink with a Qtip and rubbing alcohol. And I removed the print head and cleaned the muck of ink on the connectors with a Qtip and rubbing alcohol. Much to my suprise, after all of this the damn thing worked fine again when I plugged it back in.
