Cannot install updates for my HP printer

VISTA blues. we get it. for sure wrong install media (yes)
I tried( in what way tell the helper how you tired)
using what methods,.

• CD in box with relic printer.
• from HP, no its not supported now.
• from hackers sites, (endless vast pool of viruses)
• found in the torrents, see above line
• or?

the correct way is at HP , real HP. dig?
i can tell its the wrong software you are running (installers)
due to the crazy errors.

the 845c is not supported now at HP, so that means you went fishing for installers on the virus pond , the web, all useless but the scalpers dont care.
this is common, due to HP dropping support.
To bad the dont keep one tiny page up,show'g what support WAS?

you found a 17 year old printer at a garage sale. then
tired to get 2001 software running (old media) on 2009 VISTA.
the users guide, seen in the pond clearly shows
page 13 quote your manual.
Make sure Windows 98, Me, or 2000 is
running.

MS stores driver, for its current OS w7 and 10
but VISTA is being shut down as I speak (XP is dead)
but he update center is here
try the w7 driver (i said try it may error out say vista not supported)
and guess what, IT IS NOT.

Try this first!

Try turning off Windows Defender or whatever AV software you are running. After I turned Defender off the installation completed with no problems and it now prints!!

Click on Start -> All Programs -> HP -> HP Update and run this utility. Last month, HP released an update that directly addresses this issue with the PhotoSmart series printers and computers using Vista. You should install any updates listed here, including the connectivity update.

If you install the printer while connected to the internet, Vista will find and install the driver automatically. If not www.drivermax.com will sort all drivers for you.Download and install the program,run and all the rest is follow the on screen instructions, you need the printer connected and online to install the drivers.

resolved by installation of Vista service pack 2 and HP firmware patch.

The printer needs to be installed by you as "Adiministrator". When installing the printer you need to hold down the "Alt" button when clicking n Add Printer function. It will then give an option of installing as Administrator.

The only reason I could think of is if your connection is getting shut off during the middle of an installation..might want to ask your ISP about that. If there is no activity for a while some ISPs terminate the connection to open up bandwidth.

In this case, there's no mystery as to the cause of the problem. You will be unable to use this printer with your operating system because there are no existing print drivers that work with 64 bit Vista. Your printer will work with Windows 98, Windows 2000, and Windows XP, but not with Vista at all.

You have only two options...use a different HP printer that will work with Vista, or get a PC that has one of the supported operating systems on it and connect your current printer to that PC.

Sorry. I know this isn't the answer you were looking for, but that's the best I can do until the proper drivers become available.

Use Paint.
It's not ideal, but I can scan with my HP PSC 1205 running Vista when I use Paint. Just click 'file' then 'from Scanner or Camera'.
Works a treat.
