Your are not alone! This unit is a piece of _. It worked good for 2 years and I am so grateful that I purchased the extended warranty. This month we have had the pump cleaned, replaced, and on the third visit they even replaced the pressure switch. On the fourth visit, they claimed that they could not find anything. The problem has since continued. We didn't even get a load done this evening and I am getting ready to schedule my fifth service call this month. I have to wait until tomorrow morning to schedule I was told by a supervisor. They are useless. I am getting ready to call upper management to obtain a replacement per agreement terms. I read the fine print. I would encourage you to do the same. I have a feeling that the main motor is failing due to the pump failing. It seems like the main motor is damaged since it runs thoroughly for less than a minute before all of the lights flash on the unit. Sears likely does not want to replace this part since it is the heart and soul of the unit. The cool thing is that I still have 2 years of warranty left on this unit. I am going to keep the heat on until it is repaired correctly. I plan on staying away from Sear on my future major purchases.

If you experience a problem where the washer does not drain properly or the drain pump makes excessive noise, here's the information you need to check the drain pump:

Symptom: PUMP IS RUNNING, BUT NOT DRAINING PROPERLY.

1. Unplug the washer while servicing inside the unit.
2. Remove the lower kick panel under the door by removing the three 7mm screws under the bottom edge of the panel. HINT: Use a couple of blocks of wood to prop up the front feet of the washer to gain better access to the screws. Once the screws are removed the panel should drop down, and then pull off. If the panel becomes stuck, a slight tap on either side will dislodge it.
3. Locate the drain pump. It will be located directly under the wash tub (it is the only pump this washer has).
4. There is an access removal cover on the pump that can be removed to clean out the trap. BEFORE doing this, it is strongly recommended that you remove all residual water from the wash tub & drain line or you will have about a gallon or so inside your washer and on the floor to clean up.
5. Here's a helpful way of quickly removing the residual water. If you own a wet/dry shop vac, remove the drain hose from the standpipe at the wall and pull a vacuum with the shop vac. This will empty the wash tub, pump and drain lines. If you don't own a shop vac, grab a bunch of old towels and open the access on the pump slowly so that it comes out at a trickle. Allow the towels to soak up the majority of the water. Close the access and stop the water if you need to get additional towels.
6. Open the pump access and remove once you have all the water drained. Check the drain pump for foreign objects and debris. Check the pump impeller and make sure there's nothing caught in it. Items as small as toothpicks or cotton swabs have been known to stop this pump from working.
7. Clean out the pump thoroughly and reinstall the access cover. Make sure the cover is snug, but do not over tighten.
8. Place the drain hose back in the standpipe (IMPORTANT - DO NOT FORGET!).
9. With the bottom panel still off, plug the washer back in and select the following on the operator console - DRAIN SPIN, NO SPIN, and then press any button under OPTIONS 4 times (it must be the same button). "C00" will show on the console display as the washer begins diagnostics mode.
10. Check the drain pump for leaks as the washer fills. The pump is gravity filled and will hold water even it is not pumping. Allow washer to run through diagnostics until it begins the wash tub tumble cycle.
11. At this point, you can stop the diagnostics procedure by pressing PAUSE/CANCEL 2 times. The drain pump energizes and the washer will begin to drain.
12. If the drain pump works normal and there are no leaks detected, reinstall the bottom panel and tighten screws.

NOTE: It is normal to have residual water left inside the wash tub under the wash basket. This is why it is important to leave the door ajar when not in use so this water does not become sour.

It's normal to hear some water in tub, it isn't normal for the rubber wheel to be hard to turn, you need to replace the pump, they are much cheaper on ebay

Washer only stays on rinse cycle

The first thing to check in a no-spin condition on any washer is the lid switch. The whole purpose of the lid switch is to stop the tub from spinning when the lid is opened and this should also cause it not to drain or fill. It’s a safety thing.

A quick check of the lid switch is to slowly raise and lower the lid a little bit and listen for a faint clicking sound. This is usually a pretty good indication that the lid switch is working but it’s not definitive. A better test is to put an ohm meter on it and test the switch. You can access the switch by removing the washer cabinet.

The lid switch will most likely look like one of the two pictures below. You can click the pictures for a larger view and to order the part.

Does not complete spin cycle

Ok, when this happens, its usually because of a drainage issue. the spin cycle has to work in conjunction with the drain pump to remove the water during the spin cycle and, if there is a clog or drainage issue, the spin cycle will shutdown. check the following to address this drainage issue.

1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.

After the wash cycle is complete the clothes are still wet.

Open the machine and remove the drain pump. Clean out any debris and try again.
Remove the front panel.
The pump should be directly in front of you. Open it and clean it.
This procedure will have to be done occasionally.

Will not drain

If the drain lines are clear, test the drain pump, and see that drain pump is not clogged by removing it and cleaning.

If the drain pump is fine, then it is probably a defective control timer.

Kenmore 2 Way Tumble Action Front Load Washer

no thats two different problems. The rubber piece (boot) forms a seal to prevent the water from leaking out, that should be replaced. Water might have leaked and ruined the pump. At the end of all cycles is there still water in the tub? If so your pump is either clogged or has gone bad, and thats why the washer wont go into extract.

Drain pump starts and stops prior to final spin cycle

Jayron, is the motor jogging? start to spin, stop, start to spin stop. If so, your motor is jogging between the high and low start windings. The motor during spin should start on the high speed windings and stay there until most of the water is drained. GE came out with a new motor, harness and run cap because of this. If you have a meter, there should be a white and white/red wire going to the motor. If you have a steady 120V and it's doing this jogging, replace the motor with the kit...Let me know if this the issue, Catriver..post back.
