You need to restore your boot system by booting from windows installation disk.

whenyou boot fron CD and ask for repair , select install windows

after you accept the disclaimer by pressing F8, installation will search for current windows installation

Boot of the Windows disc, choose the first R for repair.
This will take you to a command prompt.
Here you can repair the MBR (Master Boot Record)
It might ask you for the administrator password, if so then type it in
Then type fixmbr, and it should repair the MBR so you can boot into windows.

*This fix is for windows xp, if you have windows Vista, let me know.

Hi, I have the same problem. I keep getting disk boot failure error code Boihd-4. I think it happened because I accidently pressed a wrong button. Formating the harddrive. I hit continue instead of back. Now the computer keeps asking me to put the system disk in. I keep going back to the page were I made the mistake of pushing the wrong button. before all that happened my computer turned it self off an started looping. Is there anyway to fix this without reformatting my computer. (with Windows Vista 32bit Are there programs that will allow me to download all my files that have.(movies video audio etc.) I have another computer with windows 7.

codeBIOHD-* that is some hum-dinger of code.
wow.
what PC do you have HP model what?
what OS does it run?
what are you doing with the PC at the moment of error

that error means corrupted boot structures on HDD
  1. the HDD is bad, as most are that old.
  2. the OS is corrupted from virus infections.
  3. the coin cell battery is dead and now tries to boot to the WRONG DRIVE.
  4. In a real shop, we check the coin voltage and if bad we replace it then we fully test he HDD. as most are dead this old.

Error unitialized corrupt boot structure detected biohd-4 boot path, keep getting this after trying to install windows 7, cant boot disk anymore so cant install windows 7

try repairing the file system using chkdsk with /f switch. However, it is strongly recommended to run this tool only if you have a full data backup
. To do so, click \'Start\' and then \'Run\'. You can then type \'chkdsk /f <drive name>\' in the \'Open\' box and click OK. Here, the drive name should be exactly what is appearing in error message. Alternatively, you can opt for deleting the corrupt partition provided the backup is available. If no good backup exists, you should consider to use a Windows Data Recovery utility. These are powerful and valid Windows partition recovery utilities built to scan the corrupt or deleted partitions and safely recover the lost data. The applications are easy to install and use.

Unitialized corrupt boot structure detected biohd-4 boot path

Apps like Acronis Disk Director Suite and Partition Magic
that might help because they can be booted outside the OS. Sometimes it just cannot be done without destroying the data on the drive. Try one of those!

My Compaq Presario SR5601UK running Windows Vista Home Premium locked up today. When trying to reboot it it now freezes on the moving bar that shows on the screen prior to the windows logo and log in...

The error code BI0HD-4 is a hard disk error. You need to delete all partitions on your hard disk and create new ones and format them
This will solve the problem.

Good luck and have a great day!

Boot Sector Error

Can you get it to boot without the BSOD? If the problem is intermittent, it's probably a flaky drive sector. If Windows will boot, you should be able to get Norton to make a good copy.

If it will no longer boot, the sector is probably corrupted. You can tell Norton to do a sector copy & ignore errors, but that may duplicate the problem.

You may want to try what's listed here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392

Look under /FixMBR. You could ghost it to another drive, then try that.
