I am trying to install a new pny pci dvi video card and turn off the onboard vga adapter so the video card will work as primary display output. The pny instructions says to disable the onboard adapter first before installing the new card. If I do, how will my display work so I can finish the installation?

- intel 845grg motherboard, the video card is in a pci slot. I set the bios to pci not agp and did not see a jumper connection switch anywhere on the board. The video card also supports dvi and vga output for two monitors. I have already loaded the drivers and still nothing in the long term for display.
BIOS will detect the new card..plug the cable to the new card.
before you install the new card make sure your BIOS support the interface card.
update your BIOS with latest version, before installation

- what mother board are you using...some motherboard have jumper connection switch to disable on board video card.
what interface are you using for your new video card? if you are using AGP interface..set the bios to AGP not PCI if PCI express makesure *********** board support the version of PCIe vga card.
