Question about Hitachi 28LD5200 28 in. HDTV-Ready LCD Television

1 Answer

Screen problems Hi, Since two days I have been having problems with my tv. Whenever I turn the tv on, the screen is one big mess of vertical lines, the color of the lines depending on the picture or program that is on the screen. No matter if I turn the dvd player or my wii on, the screen stays the same. The sound though, works perfect. However two days ago when it first appeared I only had to turn the tv off and on in order to solve the problem. Then a day later this wouldn´t work anymore and I had to disconnect and connect my wii in order to get the screen working again. However yesterday a couple of men tried to configure our satelite receiver and since that moment the screen has been like this. We've tried removing or changing the antenna, the wii and the scart cables yet nothing works. I don´t think the screen is broken because when I press the menu or teletext button they show up perfectly without the lines. Please help me find a solution. Regards, Cecilia

Sounds like you have caps going bad in video circuit. This will need repair from export. If tv is in warranty, then send back.

Audio is fine, but video will off after 5min ON time

Good Day, howac506;

The most common problem for your 1991 TV is the vertical out put IC (IC) part number 272p239040.

I hope this was helpful.
Good Luck again, big IRISH.

Good Day, Delano1981;

It may cure the problem but I would suspect the 9 Volt source

This should resolve your TV"s condition.

civilman, the first set has either no high voltage or is collapsed vertically, until someone checks for high voltage there is no concrete answer, the AV27730 is vertical collapse from your description, either the voltage to the vertical IC is missing or the vertical IC has failed, not a big deal cost-wise, hope this answers your questions, if not e-mail me back, good luck, BMW Rider

JVC 31" TV Vertical Screen Jumping

I've heard this is could be a cold solder joint and am looking for advice on which IC to re-solder. 1 whatever you have heard is correct as whenever you smacked the lelt side it works fine. 2 you will have to check loose contact in vertical section. your vertical ic might be located at the left side of the tv. 3 check any connector is loose near vertival section. 4 any preset is loose in vertical section. it is a simple problem if you are not technical person please get it done by tech person. as your tv is old & if it is done by tech person tell him to replace all elrctrolytic capacitors in vertical section. good luck.

Screen Size is Too Big

There should be a vertical height adjustment control potentiometer near the vertical output IC on the right side of the PC board near the front section of the TV that can be adjusted to shrink the picture vertically. Be careful not to short anything out or getting yourself shocked in the process if you decide to try to adjust it yourself. Good luck. This chassis has also been known to have bad solder connections in that area also, so don't man-handle the printed circuit board roughly.
