Belkin N1 wireless network not working

Hi,
I have NTL cable. NTL modem connects to Belkin N1 Router, no problem. work lap top connects to network perfectly. home PC running Vista connects via Belkin N1 reciever for 2-3 minutes then loses connection to the internet, but not to the router, the network signal is still as strong as it can get. very frustrating. have re-installed but no change. hard wire NTL modem back into PC and it connects fine, no problem.
any suggestions?

Get a replacement from Belkin as the router is faulty & firmware updates do not work (they make the problem worse). If it is the N1 Vision cable router that you have, DO NOT install the firmware that Compucure has linked to as that is for a totally different Belkin product (the N1 Vision is F5D8232, not F5D8231 as the link goes to).
I have had more and more problems with the N1 Vision routers with each firmware update. This will be the first & only time I buy a Belkin product. Wil stick to Cisco from now on (should have done so originally when I wanted a N spec router).

It might be an idea to upgrade the firmware which can be downloaded from manufacturers' website

Belkin router is working with desk top computer. add laptop

It's asking for the security word that you entered into the router when you set up wireless security. You will need to enter both the wireless SSID, and the security key to make the system work.

Belkin n1 router - wireless light not on - laptop has limited connectivity

If could be that you were unable to reset the router properly. You have to make sure that the router is on while pressing and holding the reset button using a paper clip. the reset button is usually found at the back of the router, then you may have to reconfigure the settings again.

you can also manually access the router page for you to change the settings.

Belkin N1 routers

First off you need to change the defaault IP of one of the routers so that you can access them both via the web based interface. The default is 192.168.2.1

Do you plan linking them via cable or wireless?

Belkin Wireless Modem Router problem

well, first of all the i also have the N1 belkin wireless modem router, in order for it to connect, there has to be a wireless connection in your area for you to connect to, if any of your neighbors so have wireless you can connect to their network, but if you are not getting a conection that means no one around you has wireless or lan, the belkin wireless is not a internet provider it just extends the distance of your internal wireless. some networks may be secured as well, sometimes you can only connect to unsecured networks unless you have the name and passcode for the secured network.

Recently had a Belkin Wireless system install at home that keeps dropping the line in my room so want to use ASDL cable to connect to my computer what is the best modem card to get to do this

Your ISP should provide you with an external modem that would be connected to your phone line, then you would connect the modem to one of the wired connections on the back of the router, or directly to the back of your computer.

However, if you insist on an internal modem, I would suggest either a U.S. Robotics or Encore brand.

Belkin n1 wireless usb adapter

Dear Friend,

1. Connect your ISP modem to your PC and configure as Bridge mode.

2. Remove your ISP modem and connect your wireless router to your PC and configure as PPPOE mode. (refer http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/reviews/article.php/3645166 if any doubt on configuration)

3. Now connect your ISP modem to wireless router, The modem should connect to your WAN cable.

4. And Give the wireless router's IP in your laptop as Gateway (In TCPIP settings of your Laptop wireless adapter / or configure DHCP)

5. Now you can access internet on both systems.

Laptop

the internet cable should be connected to the "Internet" or "WAN" port on the router. Your PC should be connected to one of the regular ports on the back of the router and your laptop can be connected just like the pc, or it can connect wirelessly.

Then you should be able to see the internet from your laptop.
