Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-27FS100 27" TV

Help! Hey... I've had a few ongoing issues with my TV which is less than 4 years old. First I occasionally got a pop up on the TV saying I had to go through the initial set up process and auto program. I though this may be because of dead batteries in the remote, but after changing them, the problem persisted. About a week ago my remote went completely dead - not a battery issue, but when I turned the TV on from the TV itself, all was fine. Yesterday I tried to turn on the TV, and the standby light was flashing. I couldn't get a picture, and the TV just scrolled through Video 1, Video 2, Video 3, and Video 4. When I tried to use panel on the TV, nothing worked. Every button on the TV (volume, channel, setup, menu) would not function as normal - it would only scroll through the different Video 1, 2, 3, 4... What's up???

Re: Help!

I have had the exact issue for the past 3 months. No matter what I do it comes and goes randomly. The latest issue is that even the menu and video buttons on the TV itself generate no response. The problem then seems to go away but several minutes later the initial set up menu keeps appearing. If the problem follows the normal course I probably will not see it for a week or so. Very annoying. Lippy

Re: Help!

You have a button stuck either on the set itself or on the remote. Stargazer

The TV started turning itself off occasionally a

Most likley what it could be is an interferance in the TV. Modern TV's have a feature that will shut itself off when it is not receving a picture. For instance, after so many minutes of "snow" it will shut off.sometimes this can make the TV think there is no signal at shut itself off.Anyway, I suspect its an interferance issue. Perhaps moving the TV further from the source of the interferance might help.

I sorry to say I think you have a component failing that is related to heat. 15 years is a long time and if the TV was used in hpot conditions over the years it may well be the proble, or it's just old.

ctgarden girl, my set does the EXACT same thing! I too wondered if a cold room was an issue. The set is only 4 years old, and I didn't have this problem in my old place where the room was a lot warmer.

Sony Wega KV-27FS100 RANDOMLY Turns itself ON

You said around 4pm TV is switched on everyday. Check in menu options any on-timer and off-timer is changed. If it is not there is a problem in microprocessor section. EEPROM ic malfunction also shows these type of symptoms. But it can be done by Technical persons only. This is not a major problem. This is due to surge current and lightening like that.

Sony KV-27FS100L -

This is due to switches malfuction due to corrosion in switch and dust accumulated in the switch. Since you rarely used switch now after failure of remote of remote control you tried to operate the switch. Another thing you said did"t get picture, maybe memory problem is there. This can be sorted out by the technician only.
