What ever you do, do not use soap and water!!

Really, this is a little tough. There is a jumper someplace close to the cmos battery that will allow you to clear the password. First thing you have to do is find the cmos battery, and it could be under the keyboard, or under a cover on the bottom of the machine.

Looked for a service manual for you, but unable to come up with one.

I believe that's a laptop and there will hardly a jumper pins! if you know a someone who can open (disassamble) the laptop without damaging it, then after disassambling it, locate a button battery and take it out for half a minute, then put it back in, reassemble then power up!
this is a classic way to remove BIOS/CMOS password. However you will need to reset all the BIOS settings yourself.

Where is the bios/cmos battery located on a aceraspire 5315-2698? I cant get past the password screen.

Hi,

The battery in Acer Aspire 5315 is very visible has a blue ring of plastic or rubber around it. follow the leads which are very short and short the circuit. no risk of damage to systemboard)
1. Try to remove cover
2. Find battery on the far right hand of the board
3. Take a small flat screwdriver and contact the two leads from the battery
4. Power it on and power it off to reset the BIOS
5. This should work for passwords
6. Moreover, it resets to default configuration

Please share the results.

You didn't mention what BIOS you have..(re: pheonix or ami or Award) so you can try "BIOS" or "CMOS" or "ACER" or "PASSWORD" or you can remove the CMOS batttery for a few minutes

How can i unlock my acer aspire hdd (it demand a 8-digit password on startup)??

Hi,

If you have forgot BIOS password then you have to reset CMOS jumper setting. Please follow the below steps: Open the Laptop back panel. Locate the CMOS battrey, remove it & then with the help of a screw driver keep on pressing the terminal inside it and turn ON the computer for 10 secs and Turn Off (make sure you keep on pressing the terminal with a screwdriver while turning ON). It will clear the BIOS setting. Now, fix the CMOS battrey & restart the computer. This will take care of the issue.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

I have forgotten my bios password and want to clear or reset it

Open it up. Remove CMOS battery for 30 seconds, the one about the size of a quarter or nickel. Before putting it back in, hold down power button, WITHOUT it haveing a battery or AC adapter to clear all power to the CMOS whatsoever.

Reset cmos. Remove the little round cmos battery from the motherboard for about 5 seconds, then replace & reboot. Problem should be solved. Good luck.

Asking a BIOS "Enter CURRENT Password".

Its very simple. You can reset it by removing the CMOS battery and then putting it back in. You will have to remove the back panel of the laptop to get to it. This is what a CMOS battery looks like http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000239.htm
