Question about Pentax Optio W10 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Optio W10 usb cable does nothing

I have the usb set to PC I have installed ACDSee v6 which came with the camera. Camera is new. I plug the USB lead in. My computer does not detect anything. ACDSee does not detect anything. ACDSee icon in the task bar should be green when there is a camera detetected but it's green all the time whether the camera is plugged in or not. If I choose tools ACDSee Device Detector then only a baloon pops up saying click here to learn how to use this, and if I click on it it opens my browser then fails to load anything. Using Windows XP Pro. Tried the usb connection on another pc but nothing. Looks like the usb just doesn't work.

I believe that I have the same problem. My USB cable used to work but I have not used it in a while. The one thing that is puzzling to me is that the camera will not power on when I have the cable attached. The camera powers of as soon as the battery/USB connection compartment is opened. I have tried connecting to a pictbridge compatible printer (Dell AIO 942) and get the same result. The camera will take pictures as I am able to remove the SD card and transfer those to the computer by inserting the card into the memory card reader on the dell printer. Is the supplied cable the only one that will work?

The first rule with any new didital camers is as far as I am concerned is -Leave The Disk in The Box Windos is quite capable of reading removeable meadi with out extra layers of programs. So Remove the software [Start/Comtrol Panel/Add Remove software, etc., Reboot the computer. Plug in the camera Make sure it is set to the upload function[see manual] Windows Camera/scanner wizard will come up select what you want to do[coy to folder] click OK. Do all this first If still in trouble check the cable with another, and if you can remove media card and try through yours PC or another via a card reader. You have to eliminate which is dud Camera[switchng] cable. When you have make the decision and concluded it is the camera/cable, pack it all up and take it back from the place it came from.

Pentax optio w80 driver

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

Connecting OPtio S4i to PC

After formatting my PC to upgrade it I've been unable to install the USB driver software to save pictures from my Tentax OPtio S4i to my PC.

My computer isn't recognising my camera when I plug it into the USB port.

When I've tried to install the Driver using the disk I got with my camera, at the stage where it asks me to MODIFY REPAIR or REMOVE, the software I get the following showing up on display boxes:
