Steady thumping every couple seconds in the venting system

I have a 2000 ford windstar. Recently a steady thumping started in the climate control vents. It sounds like its behind the center of the dash. It sounds like is a vent door opening and shutting over and over steady. I have got it to stop a couple of times by just sliding the temp from hot to cool. However, it still makes the noise even if I set the climate control to off position. Majority of the time it thumps in both temp positions and stops after about 10 to 20 minutes. Could this be a vacum hose problem since I just got an oil change and filters changed? I looked but did find anything obvious. Can you help?

On my 2000 Windstar, I had this same problem. I replaced the vent door motor and the problem went away. It is roughly $40 from O'Reilly. The motor is a white box located behind the radio. Remove the radio, then remove the plastic trim piece around the radio and climate control. From there, you will be able to remove 4 8mm screws from the white motor. Unplug the electrical connection and remove the motor. To put it back together, do the reverse of these steps using a new motor.

Fan/ventiation system has clicking noise; movingheating/cooling slider reduces or stops noise ; no or reduces warm air. 2000 windstar

Automobile ventilation systems usually use a cable that connects a motor to a flap that blocks or permits air to pass to certain vents. There is also a flap which permits or blocks air from passing through the heating coil or a/c unit. A screw may have come loose cause the cable to slide without moving the vent flap, causing the flap and cable to be misaligned. Underneath or behind the dashboard is where all of this is located. Some vehicles it is easy to access and fix the cable/flap/screw problem, such a pickup trucks. Have a mechanic look at your ventilation system, as if the problem is a loose screw, it is a very easy fix, and shouldn't be too expensive with an honest mechanic.

It sounds like you have a bad spark plug. Take it to autozone and have them hook up an OBD II scanner to it for you. Its free of charge.

Climate control not working on heat, what could possibly be the problem? when i try to switch control to the heat component it doesn't engage, this is happening with my recently purchased ford windstar...

The problem most likely is a faulty electric blend door actuator. Diagnostics will need to be performed on the climate control system to know for certain.

NO heat in front of 2001 windstar van. Thumping

Blend air door may be stuck. I removed a pencil from a heater box before. It had fallen from the dash, down through the defrost vents and jamed the door.

2000 Windstar no charge light

Check all connections to alt. and battery to make sure they are clean and tight, as it sounds like a loose or dirty connection someplace. Possibly something not tightened completely after battery and alt. replaced? (just enough to get the annoying light to go on occasionally)
