SOURCE: disk error
Hello anuhera, This is a very common problem with the cd400 camera, I have learned the hard way that Sony's recommendation to use their [expensive] media was more than just self interest. There are a lot of quality issues with CD media. As my camera has aged it is more and more intolerant of off-brand media. This is true even though I have not shot more than a 1000 images with the camera. While I can plan on getting the c:13:01 error with unbranded disks, I can still use the Sony disks without much if any problem. To get your pictures back, go to www.cdroller.com and download their recovery software, worked great for me. Let me know if you need any additional info. Best regards, nightdiver

Try to use a can of air and blow out the inside where the disk goes. The sensor may be dirty.

SOURCE: sony mavica CD 500 disk error
Hi Pamela
Sorry for unfortunate incident. I had similar issue before and I have found some solutions have worked.
1.Clean the lens of the built in CD writer of the camera and try again. Also wipe the surface of the CD gently with a piece of smooth clean cloth.
2.If solution 1 doesnt work, try installing the Adaptec DirectCD utility which comes with installation CD of the camera. After installation you can access the unfinalized content of the CD, and you can finalize on computer.
If issue still persist please post so we can seek further solution
Good Luck

I think your cams card got attacked by virus, so you need to remove it from your cam and connect it to PC through a card reader and scan for viruses
and copy the pictures from it to your pc, if required you can format it once either in pc or in your cam
dont forget to vote me.

I have the same problems with this rather expensive camera; disc error, protected disc, and and unable to transfer pictures. Sounds like SONY has ripped off a lot of people with the sale of this type camera since they don't even know how to fix these problems! I've tried putting in new discs (which are HARD to find) and tried cleaning what I could in the camera but NOTHING has worked. SONY should step up to the plate and RECALL these cameras with a rebate coupon!
is there anyway to retrieve pictures when you haven't finalized the disk and now get a disk error?
I have a disc protect error and I have no idea how it got there, but if anyone can share the info I'd be greatful.
