Maytag Performa washer Waterlevel/agitator problem

Hi, I will give the best description possible here. About a week ago my Maytag Performa Clothes Washer went nuts. I put in the load of laundry and walked away as usual to let it start filliing and what not. Except this time it didn't stop filling. The agitator process never started so I turned it off and put it on spin and it drained the what and spun the clothes just like normal. And Tried it a couple of times and the same thing the water just fills and never stops and the agitator won't start. But spin works normal. Any Ideas? I would be very Greatful thanks. Aaron Walden.

Re: Maytag Performa washer Waterlevel/agitator problem

CHECK your stand pipe hasn't fell over (the one the drain hose goes to when emptying)If not,Either the pressure switch is broke or there is a hole or split in the pressure switch rubber hose. This switch stops the water when it reaches required level.

Can't find where the clutch goes on a Maytag Performa PAV 3300, is it in the transmission?

This washer is a single belt driven model that uses a thrust washer system to release the brake when the motor reverses. In wash mode a 200# spring locks the tub place while the transmission agitates the clothes. The pump cannot remove the water in this direction. In spin mode the the brake is released and the water gets pumped out. Here is a great pictorial that shows how to replace the kit along with a Maytag single belt washer service manual.

Maytag Performa PAVT920AWW washer makes a squealing sound

i am sorry but i had this problem happen before with my customer maytag performa, what i found out is that the brakes become crystallized, causeing a squeaking noise, remember in agitation, the brakes stops the the drum from spinning, what i advise you to do is change out the breaks or take the brake pads and rub them with sand paper

Maytag performa washer grinding noise

Sounds like the water pump is going out on it. The part runs about $80 and should only take about 45 minutes to install.

Maytag top load performa, put clothes in , fill up and now the agitator is noisey, looked under washer belt appears to be loose 2-3 inches in play, should I replace belt,or something else to repair noise...

thats normal tension on the belt if the agitator is making noise the cams within the agitator are worn (loud clicking or popping noise during wash) the agitator will need to be replaced

Agitator noise in maytag performa machine

The noise in your washer tub could be caused by some object lodged under the agetator. Lift off agetator and check. Or somthing could have gotten into the sump tub. this could be a major job as you would have to remove the complete inner tub assy. One other problem I can think of it could be worn tub bearings. If the washer is 10 or 15 years old I would replace it,
