My screen is still dim after replacing the inverte

my screen went dim a while back , and on researching the internet i found out that it may be due to either the inverter or backlight. but since my laptop was onle a month old i though it couldnt be the backlight so i bought a brand new inverter and connected it. the weird thing is that when i connected the two ends to the two wire connections from the laptop it came back on perfectly. then i switched it off and screwed on the inverter to the screen and sealed the screen up. on putting it on again same problem as before, no light on screen, and to make matters worse the inverte seems to be 'dead' because if i connect it like before it doesnt even come on now.
