How to Disable the Local Administrator Account on Windows XPNote Before you disable the local Administrator account, make sure that there is at least one other local or network user who can gain access to the computer with administrator permissions. Otherwise, you will not be able to reverse this action in the future.

  1. Log on as Administrator, or as a user with administrator permissions.
  2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
  3. In the left pane, expand the Local Users and Groups node, and then click Users.
  4. In the right pane, double-click the Administrator account.
  5. On the General tab, select the Account is disabled check box, and then click OK.
  6. Quit the Computer Management console. The new setting takes effect the next time you attempt to log on to this computer.

Eee pc hard drive lock

Asus Eee PCs run on the Windows XP SP2 operating system. Accounts in Windows XP SP2 can easily be password-protected, but the same password can just as easily be forgotten.

At moments like this, you'll wish you had chosen a password that is both secure and easy to remember, or kept a record of it in a private place.

The quickest way to get back on the computer is to seek out someone with an administrator account on the computer.

Press "Control" + "Alt" + "Delete" at the same time on the locked screen.

Select "Switch User."

Remember, only an administrator account registered on this computer can unlock the computer.

Type in "administrator" in the user name box.

Type the password that corresponds to the administrator user name in the password box .

Click "OK." The Asus Eee PC is unlocked.

Hope this helps

Is there a another way to delete a user account on Windows XP?

Users are deleted in User Accounts, or Local Users and Groups. Not in Documents and Settings.

Make sure you are an Administrator, and not trying to delete active login account. Then delete.

In the user accounts, it says i'm the administrator, under my name, well last night i was messing with shortcut and htkys, and it opened up a whole new desktop, and it said administrator on the start

Hello Sealiena Cox! How you doin.. well, what i wanna you to do is on the logon screen, do not click on any of those two accounts ok, now press Ctrl+Alt by keepin holdin 'em hit the Delete key twice, you will get another screen, type in user name Administrator, password ummm i dunno about it do have a password on your previous usage if yes then type it otherwise just leave the password blank. once you are in, and found that all files on your old desktop, do this: right-click on My Computer icon that on desktop -> select Manage > left pane navigate to Local users > Users, I need u here to disable any accounts u don't want to use except for the administrator account, to do so Right-click on the user name > select properties then tick that box saying " Account is disabled " > apply > ok and do so for the rest of accounts. DO NOT disable all accounts otherwise you will not able to access your Windows any more. that's not that dangerous but that time you need a computer technician to fix it for you, because it could not be fixed online. Let me know if that helped you in returning back your old desktop. if not then follow up. Thanks

I had to use my system recovery disc on my EMachine

When you used system recovery it is possible that some stuff got missed by pc. Nothing you did since i have seen it many times. You might wanna try reloading windows from scratch but be aware you will loose all the data of off it. This might be only way.while in set up for windows install make sure you delete old partition and then install new fresh copy of windows. You will need you OS XP disk for this. It is very easy to do so just follow the prompts and when it tells you do you wanna install new copy of windows so do and it will give you option to delete old partition and do a format on it. Once this is done just do regular install.Hope this helps.
