If you have access to the Internet using a LAN cable, then download the Netgear wireless USB adapter to install the driver. After downloading you can remove the LAN cable.
You can also save the driver from your laptop to an USB memory stick and then install the driver in your computer with the USB memory stick.

What I could recon from your question is that your audio driver is corrupted in your PC.

Please find the Driver software's of your Audio and video inside the installation disk provided with the PC at the time of purchase. As you have not mentioned your PC make I am unable to give you the direct download link. However you can download the same by visiting the website of the company that manufactured the PC.

Even here you need to be careful to download the correct software for your PC. You need to be exact with the PC make and Model number and the OS that you are using.

To install just Double clock on the driver setup.exe file and go on clicking 'Next' until you get the 'Finish' option and restart the PC.

If you want to clean up your pc of viruses, Trend Micro's free online virus scanner 'Housecall' is a good way to do it.

If you want to find the serial number of your Windows installation so you can reinstall, download the 'Magic Jellybean Keyfinder' - it works well.

Find a computer with a 3.5-inch diskette-drive, and a USB port.
Copy all the files from the diskette onto a USB memory-stick.
Carry the memory-stick to your computer, and install from it.

Try using diskette in another pc drive,if it works copy data to new diskette, its not unusual for diskettes to wear out thro constant usage.

are you using wifi connection, I mean wireless connection or you're hooking up to a LAN network or through a modem connection?  If all this connection wouldn't worked out anymore, try reinstalling your Operating System!
