I've had the same problem with some disks and not with others. The only solution I've found is that you can turn off the recorder, with the disk in the machine, wait about 30 seconds and turn it on. If this doesn't work, unplug the machine from the wall, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. This usually works.

If neither of these work, the disk is bad.

Hello, My Philips DVDR7300H has a recording error after burning to dvd - burns VERY Slowly, and then gets hung on 95% - then "Disk Error" and the disk is then unreadable. It reads other previously recorded...

This happens with a number of drives.
1. DVD Dye type - but as you have tried DVDs from a batch that works seems unlikely.
2. Some drives dont like +R or -R If using +R try -R etc. Also some drives have problems with RW's used previously
3. Drive head travel is faulty. Sometimes only recording a max of 4Gb or 90% on a disk works OK.
Good Luck

Hi, I have a Samsung DVD-VR300E dvd/vcr combo. The DVD player won't read any DVDs anymore, whether bought or recorded. What I don't understand is that it does still read the DVD cleaner disk! It won't read...

The laser in the DVD drive may be shot (?), even though it seems to read the DVD cleaner disc. I attended a maintenance class on cleaning CD and DVD writer drives for PCs and was told not to use the disc cleaners with brushes as they can knock the laser out of alignment. It's best to use a can of pressurized air to clean a drive when it's open. Just make sure not to allow any of the propellant to get inside!

DVD recorder continually stuck on a loop trying to read disk.

Hi again

Well done!

I am so pleased to hear that you have restored the DMR E55 and for taking the trouble to let me know. It's always satisfying to achieve something like that and I guess you'll get even more pleasure from using it now than you did before. They are good machines and well worth the effort to keep them going.

Thanks again and kind regards

Dvd recording

I had the same problem and spent some time looking up this issue. I have a sony dvd player and it seems to have trouble reading almost any burnt dvd or cd. I have read that sonys seem to prefer the cheap dvds and cds for burning. It seems the cheap'O dvd players play burnt dvds and cds better that the nice ones, go figure.

There is more info out there about making sure to burn dvds and cds in the correct format.
You can try different burning software that has more options than just vista.
If you are creating a dvd from a movie file such as an avi or mpeg, please explain more on what you are doing and trying to accomplish.

G'luck

Recording Error "Can not record on this disk/E4 54037380

I had that exact same problem. I would record a bunch of dvds with no problems for months and then some and one day it doesn't work. Only this showed up E4 EA03738B. However I've found the solution. Instead of going out and returning the recorder or buying new dvds just purchase a Laser Lense Cleaner. It's a dvd cleaner. Works like a charm.

The following will set your recorder to the Factory defaults.
(Will not format HD on DMRE80).

With power off (stand-by mode/CLOCK DISPLAY SHOWING):

1)Press and hold [skip reverse] [Time Slip] [Eject] buttons for about 10 sec
2)Display will show 'L1 TEST'
3)Now power off DURING TEST
4)Clock should be fashing 12:00
5)Turn power on and language menu will be displayed on TV

Use for
DMRE50

For the DMRE75V press both [dub] buttons and [eject].

Hope this helps.
