If you have installed your printer on your PC using an original Lexmark Driver CD that came with your product and you are experiencing problems when printing, you may have installed the Windows XP driver.
Follow these steps to resolve:
· Disconnect your USB cable from your printer.
· Uninstall all Lexmark printer drivers on your PC. (For more information Click Here)
· Download the correct Vista driver for your model. (Click Here)
· Install the driver on your PC. (Click Here)

I couldn't uninstall any 1270 stuff..I couldn't find it on my pc to uninstall either. Until I went to lexmark site and downloaded driver for 1250. While I was downloading driver..uninstall old version? came up and I did {finally}. I did have to turn off my firewall protection. I did get pc to recognize driver and printer. It worked but still had some problems with trying to set preferences and now my ink was dried up. Printer printed blanks. I read that these cartridges are know for drying up very quickly. So instead of buying a new set of ink, I paid the extra 40.00 and bought a new epson all in one printer for 89.00 and it took 1 hr. to get running. I think most problems with 1270 develope because when they came out , windows was in between XP and Vista. Go to a Best Buy and you find {1} lexmark printer for sale and some bad reviews from salespeople. I spent hours and hours trying to get the lexmark printer to work right {plenty of online research} and then within 2 hours, I am up and running with different make and technically updated model. Well worth the 40-50 bucks.

I had the same problem. i solved by turning off the antivirus and then installing the drvers
Download the vista drivers and keep in a folder.Plug the printer in and let vista install,it will ask to install drivers,allow this.It will then say it cant find or install the drivers.Close all windows,now go to device manager,find the printer and right click and update driver manually selecting the file with the vista drivers.This worked for me,but i still cant install the all in one feature,but the printer works.
Try disabling any firewall programs and restart computer in selective startup.. i.e cancelling all startup applications and try installing again. let us know if u get any specific error message.
You can try this to disable your firewall.
On the bottom right hand corner of your computer (Task Bar), You will find some small icons. Point your mouse to each of those icons and see which ever icon has the words "antivirus" or "firewall" or "Security" or "Internet Security", in their names. Then right click on that icon and click on "disable" or "Turn Off" or anything that means close it down. If you cant right click on it, then try double clicking on it.

Hello i had this problem and was about to go and buy a new printer untill i tried this 1unistall everything to do with lexmark then go to start menu go to search and type in lexmark delete every thing then and then please email me back and ill tell u how 2 the go about sorting out the driver

I CANT GET LAXMARK X1270 TO DOWNLOAD TO MY COMPUTER
Everytime I try to install the 1270, it keeps running and running and says that it is installing but nothing happens. It locks up the entire computer and I have to shut down. This printer stinks. Cannot install it with Vista.

I also can't get my Lexmark x1270 installed. I've tried selective start-up and turning off the firewall. Microsoft site suggested that all you need to do is unplug the usb when you get the error message and then replug it in...that seemed to be letting it install, but when I try to open the program it says that lxczspswx.exe is missing and asks if I want to delete the shortcut. Lexmark tech support have tried to be helpful, but nothing works!!!

I have used the X1270 on windows XP for a few months with no problems. Now I'm getting the error message that tells me the printer isn't connected whenever I try and print. I can scan though.
If I uninstall the printer I cannot reinstall it as windows cannot find file lxczpswx.exe (even from the installation disc). I have had to use system restore just to be able to get the use of the scanner back!

I kept getting the LXCZPSWX.exe file is missing too. Hopefully I've managed to fix my printer problem now. Try this, uninstall the printer, uninstall your anti virus, remove any parental controls you might have on the pc and disable your firewall. Now reinstall the printer and download a 2008 version of your anti virus. I did this and my X1270 worked again. Then failed again, so I uninstalled the ani virus again and downloaded "Avira anti-virus" which is free. So far, I've had a whole day of the printer functioning correctly. Don't forget to enable your firewall again. All a bit of a cafuffle but hopefully it'll work.

I bought a lexmark x1290 and tried to install it in my windows vista and it won't work. I downloaded the vista version from the Lexmark web page and it doesn't work. The computer always tells me windows failed. A window opens and says that windows failed and it shuts down the program to install the printer before all the installation is complete.
