I was able to gain entrance into the area by taking out 1 screw (star head), slightly pulling on the plastic compartment to cause a small opening. I then tilted the machine and the needle fell out. The screw is located on the rear of the sewing machine, right behind the bobbin compartment. A flat head screw is also needed to "Pry" open the plastic.

SOURCE: bobbin winder stopped working

Either the winder rubber has worn down, or there may be some residue on the winder rubber, ot the winder may have seized through lack of oil which is quite common in that case it will need to be replaced

Singer 6235 bobbin thread winds under bobbin

This happens to me when my bobbin isn't pushed down completely onto the bobbin holder. Also, it happens when I overfill the bobbin and the bobbin sensor doesn't stop the bobbin when it is full.

What's your problem?

if the bobbin thread is winding around the bobbin winder spindle then
the bobbin is not sitting correctly on the bobbin winder spindle,,
the bobbin (metal or plastic) should lock in on the bobbin winder spindle
& the the thread should be around the bobbin tension guide

Machine will not go forward when pressing the foot pedal. Manual says something about checking bobbin winder indent. What is a "Bobbin winder indent."

bobbin winder is the little spindle on top usually right side above the flywheel. you need to move it left away from the stop as this engages the bobbin winder and disengages the needle movement. your manual should show this under Winding a bobbin. these machines dont have a clutch on the flywheel, just moving the bobbin spindle declutches

How do I put thread on the bobbin?

Most machines have a bobbin winder on top of the machine under the top cover. The thread may or may not go through the tension above the needle, depending on the machine. There is a small spool holder on top that holds the bobbin and you thread your thread through the bobbin and start the winder. Some machines need the right wheel to be pulled out so the needle does not go up and down, just winds the bobbin. Wind it carefully as if you have loose threads, it can jam the machine and make a thread tangle.

Problems winding bobbins on my singer 4622 sewing machine

I have two possible solutions:
1. you have the wrong bobbin and it doesn't grip the winder.
2. the small spring on the winder spindle is missing or bent, it is what applies pressure to the bobbin for winding.

good luck!
