The DVD drive should have one or two small phillips head screws on the side that will allow you to slide the drive out through the front of the PC. Just be careful that you don't damage the ribbon cable when you do this.

How do I remove the harddrive from the HP Slimline S3100n?

Shut down the power to your HP Slimline computer.

Remove any memory cards or other devices from the desktop.

Disconnect the power cord and peripheral devices from the computer.

Lay the computer flat on your work surface.

Remove the three screws on the rear of the computer cover with a Phillips screwdriver.

Slide the cover toward the back of the computer then lift it off the tower.

Set the cover aside.

Raise the wire latch in front of the hard drive mounting area.

Pull the cables straight out of the connections to disconnect them from the hard drive. Unscrew the retaining screw in the side of the mounting tray with a Phillips screwdriver.

Grab the tab on the hard drive tray and slide it back out of the mounting area. Remove the screws that secure the hard drive to the tray with a Phillips screwdriver.

There are four screws, one on each corner.

Slide the hard drive out of the tray.

DVD tray will not go in

To verify there is nothing stuck in your drive, turn off your computer and try manually pushing the tray in GENTLY and feel if there is something blocking the tray moving. If there is nothing preventing the tray from moving manually push the tray in - start your computer and try it again. Use the eject function in windows explorer and try the retract button again. If teh button will not work try pushing the tray in manually again. Once the tray starts moving in it should automatically retract the rest of the way. If the unit will not retract on it's own by either method then the drive should be replaced.

Cannot remove it from pc there are no screws pc is a hp pavillion

Actually, there IS one screw...it's inside the cover for your RAM. Undo the two phillips screws on the cover of your RAM slots (don't expect them to come right out, they're made to stay with the cover). There will be one screw inside this cover, it may well be a #8 Torx screw. Remove this screw, use a straightened paperclip to open the drive tray, and gently slide it out.
Ensure your machine is unplugged from the wall and has the battery pack removed to avoid risking disaster.

My slimline s3320f 'ate' a small cd. I can't get the cd/dvd drive out. There is a clip on one side, but the other side is still tight. How do I remove the drive.

Hi,
First of all try to manually eject the tray, look very close at the CD/DVD near the eject button, there should be a very small hole next to it. If you straighten a large paperclip and push it in that hole you will be able to eject the tray and remove the mini disk.
If you can't eject the tray you will have to remove the CD/DVD itself. Now you say its a slimline? that usually means its in a laptop not a desktop. Am i correct in my assumption?
