Won't dehumidify It runs and runs and I see no water in the tank. There is no ice on coils. I could here a cycle noise. Notice the water draining. Not now. Is it fixabe or do I buy a new one? It is a portable unit.

    Dehumidifier worked fine last year and now runs fine but does not pull in any water in the tank. HELP!

    We have the same problem. We have a wine cellar with a dehumidifier on permanently, I had a tube going from the back into a drain which worked fine for a while but then stopped collecting water. I pulled out the tube but the reservoir is not collecting water either.



    We have had 3 dehumidifiers over 7 years and the same thing has happened - still makes noise but no longer collects water. Are we doing something wrong?

Dehumidifier freezes up
Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand your Frigidaire dehumidifier, model# FDF50S, is freezing up. I see that the compressor does not shut off, causing ice to build up on the coils, rather than water draining off. What can cause this is your dehumidifier has been turned on recently. This is normal due to refrigerant rushing through the coil. Frost will usually disappear within 60 minutes. Another cause is if the room temperature is too low or too high. Your appliance is designed to operate between 41 degrees F and 96 degrees F. I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Restore power and start any cycle. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

If the room temperature is close to 60, the coils may be frozen (completely encased in ice). If this is the case, move it where the water can drain off - about 1 gallon which may NOT run into the drain bucket.
I out mine over the floor drain.
Turn off and it will defrost over night.
Only specially made dehumidifiers work below a room temp of 60 degrees (the temp of a basement in winter).
Does it need to be running? A digital humidity sensor from Radio Shack is cheap and may tell you the humidity is OK - only 50% or less.

I have an ebac dehumidifier i think 6000 model and it appears to work fine. the fan runs ok the compressor seems to kick in ok but the tank will not fill. i had it on in my room for approx 30 mins and...

Soleusair showing signs of limited life
If the room temp is below 60 degree, coils may be frozen in block of ice - see if you can see into grills.

If frozen, unplug and set in tub or over drain.

Check to see that it is not set on CONT (continous) as it will run but with low indoor humidity in winter, not have mosture to extract.

Dehumidifier icecing up
Three possibilities for coils icing up.

1. Low ambient temperature in the area where dehumidifier is located. If so, shut down and de-ice it. Then move the unit to a different - (warmer) - location and start it up.

2. Heating element - (which cycles periodically to liquify frost on the coils and allow water to drain) - is malfunctioning.

3. Low refrigerant level in the unit.

expected? of course! this is not ur solution try draining all the water to the sewerage if u cant try to pump it out with a vacuum cleaner (that can pump water) or a pump then turn on the Dehumidifier every time it frosts turn it off untill it defrosts or u can heat up the basement with a bellower and the Dehumidifier wont frost
