Re: Hitachi TV will not turn on.

If have already unplugged and waited for atleast 15min. and still no success. Then only if you are Electronicly inclined. Check to see if you get dead completely or you get an indicator light momentarly. Which these are two different symptoms. first dead no indicator. check R931,E994,Q777. Then if indicator light comes on and goes off, check E994 which is fuse opening, C707-1000pf 2kv cap, also check D915, I601, IK04, and 05

Hitachi Ultravision, 1998 model, 50" screen. It turned itself off and will not turn on.

I had the same one. And my color went out and had a rainbow on its left side. I think what I was told its because it was being used for gaming. The tv cannot stand on a blank screen for long. Maybe this will help.

Changed bulb followed all instructions lamp light still flashing. tv wont turn on

I have not repaired this TV. But with experience I would guess to replace the ballast in this TV. Once again, I have not repaired this TV. It is often over looked, but yes, my concern would be to replace the ballast. The ballast could be compared to the transformer that ignites those fluorescent bulbs to start. Take this information to a local TV repair. It will give you a good start for repairs. And you may see a more reasonable price as you have good information in your hands. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

My 59" Hitachi Rear-Projection TV

You have a bad light engine (optical block). This is the most expensive part of the TV. Do a search with the model number on Google or Ebay and even type the words "light engine" in your search. You can then find the price of the part. You can find a service manual by typing in the model number followed by "service manual". This will show disassembly instructions.

TV popped and turned off and won't come back on

If you have Hitachi model number 50UX58B, 60UX58B, 50UX58K, 60UX58K, 50SBX78B or 60SBX78B and you have the following symptoms you may want to grab a repair kit from They have put together a kit that includes the parts and instructions to fix these models. This is a fairly common problem with the above model numbers. It is typically caused by a blown capacitor and pico fuse. Again, you can get a kit from the above address.

Here are the symptoms...

Primary Symptom: No Audio or Video. Power light will come on briefly then shut off.
Other Possible Symptoms : The green LEDs on the circuit board light up for a few seconds then turn off.

Hope this helps,
