Re: my router is failing

I have had many D-Link routers fail ova the years and they all seem to start off just as ya describe , then go toes up... after a bit. Of course B4 getting another unit, one must first re-install all drivers, check all cords, cables etc. just to rule out anything else. Then get a nice new modern one :)

I just reset my dell computer back to factory setting. How do I now reset up for internet connection. My provider is verizon and I am using internet explorer

You want to reset your internet connection???
If yes then follow the given steps....

Step 1

Turn the modem so that the back of it is facing you. Locate the power supply cord connected to the back of the device.
Step 2

Gently unplug the power supply cord and leave it unplugged for about 10 seconds. If you also have a router connected to the modem, disconnect the power cord of the router as well.
Step 3

After about 10 seconds reconnect the DSL modem power cord. Wait for the status lights on the front of the unit to come on. They may blink at first before turning solid green, or they may first illuminate as orange, then turn green, depending on the modem model. The "Internet" and "Incoming" lights may continue to flicker, this is normal operation for modems.
Step 4

After the modem is reset, reconnect the router power supply if you have a router. Wait a few minutes before resuming normal Internet use.

The router drops out every 15 to 30 minutes and must be reset by removing the power and re-connecting. What should I do?

There are many reasons why this might be happening.. You could try the following steps..
1) Disconnect the power from router for a minute and reconnect and check. 2) Try changing the wireless channel and Network name and try re-connecting. 3) Check if there is an firmware update for your product and update if any update is available. 4) If none of the above steps work you will need to reset(a small button or hole at the back or base) and re-config your router. ( For that you need the CD given with the router and you will need the ISP settings.)
Hope this helped

My Belkin F5D7633-4A ADSL2+ modem with wireless router is disconnecting from the internet with increasing frequency. To reconnect I pull out the power cable feeding into the back of the router and after 10...

There could be a number of things going on. I'll list some of them that you might check:
  1. Your wireless network does not have security enabled, and your neighbors are using it to download files using P2P networks. These P2P network connections are crashing your router. In order to resolve this issue, enable WPA or WPA2 security on your router per the user manual.
  2. One of the filters on your phone line has been removed or is failing and needs to be replace. Remove each filter on each line one-by-one and run your Internet connection for a while to see if it fails. Do this one-by-one for each filter.
  3. You recently started using 2.4GHz cordless phones in your home. Get rid of these cordless phones and buy DECT 6.0 compliant cordless phones that use a different radio frequency.
  4. Check the wiring of your telephone jacks to make sure that the connections are solid and that there is no corrosion on the connection. Verify that all jacks and cords are undamaged
  5. Call your DSL provider and complain that their service drops-out on a regular basis.
Hopefully one of these suggestions will fix your issue.
Good Luck

I have no internet connection when i connect my adsl router with enhwi g2 router in WAN, then from lan1 connect my pc. Please solve my problem. Tnx

First test to see that you can connect to the Internet by connecting directly to the modem.

If yes, then check that the cables are connected correctly and that the LEDs are on. (Just a check :). Telephone line to LINE IN on modem then Ethernet/Cat 5 from LAN port on modem to WAN port on Encore router, then Ethernet/Cat 5 cable from LAN port on router to PC.)

Use browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, Mozilla) to connect to web interface of router (make sure your TCP/IP settings on PC are set to obtain IP address using DHCP).

Open browser and type in the IP Address of the router ( is the default) where you usually type in the name of the website you want to go.

Go to the LAN Interface Setup page (you are now inside your router).

Change the IP Address from to (leave the subnet mask as it is).

Change the DHCP Client Range from - (the default) to -

Click on Apply Changes button. You may lose connectivity to the router, but you can reconnect by typing in the new IP Address You may need to renew the IP address of the PC, but that can be easily done by rebooting the system if it doesn't happen automatically.

Let me know how you go, or leave a message if you still can't connect. I would ask that you tell me the model of the ADSL modem however.

Cant get the internet light to turn on

1. disconnect the Ethernet cord for 30 seconds then reconnect it to the router
2. contact your ISP to see if you have lost connectivity with them, there may be an issue with the line or there IP licences, a fiber cut or disconnect at the central office or cable headend.
1.Log into router. Using either to in a browser

window that is ( internet Explorer or Firefox)
2. Verify wireless router name( on the computer) >>> ( on/off) ( router

status window)
3.Note router name you are connecting to.
2.. Check the laptop do ipconfig /all to see current IP addresses.
3. Set the laptop up in the router by WEP KEY or MAC address. This set up

in the "security tab" in the router. using or to access

through a browser.
4..Note router name you are connecting to.
6.. Move the laptop about 20ft away and try to log on to the internet.
This is for all routers to set up wirelessly.
7. check for firmware update at the manufacturers site for your model

8. cell phones, cordless phones, digital TV's, can affect the data signal

from a router. Also distance from the router can be a factor. If your router

is in a basement place the router to a upper floor and center it in the room.

Wireless connectivity suddenly lost

Have you tried power cycling the router and the modem? if not:

1. Turn off your modem and router by unplugging the power cord at the back of the devices.

2. Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the modem to the router vice versa

3. After a minute, replug the power cord at the back of your modem then reconnect the ethernet cable at the back of the modem as well.

4. After a minute, replug the power cord and the ethernet cable at the back of your router.

5. Try to test the connection.

Warning: You can reset the router if you know that you can reconfigure it back to connect to the internet. If you don't know how to set the router back to connect to the internet, it would be ok to you to not to do step 6.

6. If it didn't work, You can reset the modem. Press the reset button at the back of your router while it's turned on, wait for 15 seconds after that, unplug the power cord at the back of the router while the reset button is still pressed, wait for 15 seconds after that, replug the power cord at the back of your router while the reset button is still pressed, wait for 15 seconds again then release the reset button after 15 seconds.

7. Reconfigure your router's settings to communicate to your modem. ( I don't know if you have cable internet connection, but if so, you can just clone the mac address of your modem to connect to the server, if you are using DSL if it's asking for a username and passowrd, just use the PPPoE type of configuration in your router)

8. If it failed, try to update the firmware of your router.

Cant get onto configuration page of router as says authentification failed

In the simplest sense could this be an intermittent wire issue -- evidenced by depending how it is moved it disconnects or reconnects? Secondly if this is your device and not AOL's or someone else's like your ISP AND YOU KNOW THE ENTIRE CONFIGURATION CONTENTS.

REPEAT AND YOU KNOW THE ENTIRE CONFIGURATION CONTENTS. You may be able to find a user guide with reset instructions to get access to the configuration again.

Loosing wireless connection

It sounds to me like your wi-fi client might be affected by some sort of timeout or overload type kick. Is it just the PC or both the PC and the Xbox?

By "timeout" this could be your "IP Lease" that is too short (look in your ADSL PPP/PPOE configuration)
Otherwise would you be using any P2P software? If so you might want to look in the settings for something called MTU. Set this to something like 1500 then if that doesn't do it reduce it to 1492.

The only other thing I can think of is that your pc might be having authentication problems. Degrade your wi-fi security (go from WPA to WEP) and test to see if that makes any improvements.
