ZR50 Rec/Pause button not working

The record/pause button on my ZR50 does not work. I cannot get the camera off of pause to record video. The camera works fine with the remote control, so I believe the problem to be the actual switch. How do I disassemble to fix or replace the switch?

Re: ZR50 Rec/Pause button not working

I encountered the same problem with the Canon REC/Pause switch was intermittent. To solve the problem I used a high pressure air hose and blasted the switch with air. It cleaned the contacts of the switch without having to take it apart.

Re: ZR50 Rec/Pause button not working

You are right.. if you know that you can fix the carbon button..replace it with the metal contact of the tac switch or micro switch...the diameter of the contact must be bigger to the contact area to prevent shorted connection

How do I pause while recording? I can pause while playing back but can't seem to figure out how to pause a recording then resume, it just stops and starts a new clip. Please help. (My handycam is cano

The default is to start a new clip every time you press the stop button, but in settings you might be able to tell the camera to continue with the same clip provided you press record again with a set time. Not sure why you want to do this though - it's much easier to edit using small clips than very large ones.

How can i pause in middle of taking a video

Perhaps I'm not understanding your question, but if you mean simply pause while taping someone or something, you hit the record button again. This will pause, and then to restart you hit record again.

Connecting zr85 to vcr to record vhs tape to dv or sd card

I also have a Canon ZR-- left of the lens and the built-in microphones, there is a small panel that opens to reveal several ports. The middle yellow one is the AV In/Out. You can plug in the cable that came with your camera. One end looks like a microphone plug, the other has 3 RCA type plugs- red, white and yellow. These get plugged into your VCR's OUT plugs on the back of the VCR. Place a tape in the camcorder, open the LCD panel and push the REC PAUSE button. On the VCR, press the Play button. When the tape reaches the point you want to begin recording, press the camcorder's Play/Pause button. When you want to stop recording, press the Stop button on the camcorder.
This is also detailed on page 82 of your manual, manuals are available online at Your specific manual is at:
Hope this helps.

Help! Stopped Recording

Do you have a remote? Some camcorders you have to hit the record pause button on the remote and then hit pause. It then begins recording. I hope this works for you.
