Re: problem in antivirus
Unless there is a problem with the server at AVG it should update no problem, when you click update for the first time you have the option to click file or internet, clicking internet should go to the AVG server.
Sometimes it takes a few times to update, but if it continues, uninstal AVG and re install it.

I would suggest leaving the Windows firewall in operation and let your antivirus software update itself on a regular basis. I prefer Avast free antivirus and it updates itself several times a day. If you prefer a more complete solution for a firewall, ZoneAlarm is very good and they have a free version as well.
A good anti-spyware program to update and run from time to time is Spybot Search and Destroy, and It too is free.
Hi, first run antivirus to chek viruses(with updated antivirus software like Karspersky,Mcafee,etc...),then uninstall skype and go to programfiles delete skype folder, then restart the system and again install skype.
If you're using a legitimate software and are using Windows, you can just go to the Windows Update in Start > Programs > Windows Update and this will install the necessary updates, patches and fixes for your computer and will allow you to install their free antivirus program in their list of software/program you can install for your computer.
what antivirus do you use? commonly, u can find it at your software.
open your antivirus and find the 'update' tab. there will be warning if your antivirus is out of date. most antivirus give update information at 'update' tab (commonly are date release of update database)
It's not normally for an antivirus to stay few months without updates, you're probably infecteed with a virus which disable the update option.Uninstal your antivirus and reinstall new one,i personally use AVG,is easy to use, very good antivirus and above all is free,if you want it,go here and download it: http://free.avg.com/gb-en/download-free-antivirus
You can update your Symantec Anivirus either by running Liveupdate or you can download the definitions manually from the link below for your specific Symantec Antivirus you have.

so just install the updated antivirus & scan your whole system .....
if you have the antivirus installed already then just update the antivirus and then scan your system & clean the virus....
