Gateway w650i drivers webcam - Microsoft LifeCam HD-6000 Web Cam

When you went to the Gateway website and downloaded drivers, did you notice that under drivers there was nothing for the webcam? Use this link and download the webcam application under Applications tab. The driver is included in the application.

Try re-installing the WEBcam driver.

You can reinstall the WebCam Drivers from the recovery manager, to do so:

Click Start> All Programs> Gateway> Restore> Reinstall Application and Drivers> Select the WebCam drive and install it

OR

Visit Http:\\support.gateway.com to download the drivers.

I ran into this same problem on the exact model laptop. The solution is to remove the two screws that are in the laptop hard drive on the right... Those are obvious... The next step is to remove the two little white space fillers that are to the left of the laptop hard drive on the furthest side from where you removed the screws. That allowed the entire hard drive to now slide to the left toward where those place/space holders were. (don't lose those white pieces) Once you have the hard drive slide all the way left away from the connectors that were holding it in place you can slide up one side of the Hard Drive and easily pull it out!

This procedure usually does not fix that problem, to dismantle a laptop is very delicate and if you have not stripped one down I suggest you take to someone who is competent.

Make sure your microphone is not muted in the control panel, under sounds.
