Its in the carb linkage which controls the choke and the throttle position..its just a pain to use it.. won;t hurt anything.
hard to imagine people still buy larger items from sears these days..sorry...

SOURCE: Sears 19 hp twin 42 inch tractor, won't start if hot

Hi
Two things come to mind. First it could be not getting enough fuel when hot due to carb adjustment being too lean. That could be that the float level in the carb is set too low or the low speed jet is set too lean. When cold the choke circuit in the carb supplies the extra fuel required.
Second in some enjines that have low compression they start cold but when hot the compression drops below 60 psi and makes starting very difficult until engine cools down.
I suspect a fuel problem.

SOURCE: Tractor starts then stop running

It will either be the stator that needs changing or the carb needs to be pulled off and cleaned

SOURCE: My Sears Craftsman Garden Tractor 22HP, dies after it gets hot

Sue your brother is right! I had the same problem and it turned out to be the gas cap. the small breather hole on the top was plugged with dirt. once I cleaned it out I took the rubber gasket out from the bottom of the cap and cleaned that as well. runs great now.

Blowing white smoke out of exhaust

sounds like it is still overfilled ,, oil is leaking on the back side of the piston .. or may be a blown head gasket and being overfilled was just a coincidence if it is a briggs motor I would be suspect of a head gasket.

I have a ZTS 7500. How do you know if your dip stick tube is leaking?

Clean off engine with brake clean and then start, while someone watches front of engine. And yes the dipstick tube may be the leak. This link should help. http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/lis_pdf/OWNM/L0709063.pdf

John deere lt155 lawn tractor shuts off when it gets hot while mowing, could this be electrical?

I had a similar problem lasy year.
Try this:
As soon as the machine seems to be stalling, loosen the gas cap.
If the engine continues to run, clean the gas cap vent hole(s).

Husqvarna 24hp 54"yard tractor

Hi. Begin by checking your blades, if they are dull they must be sharpened or that alone will bog down the engine. Also time for a new air filter. Happy mowing. J.

Runs good for a few minutes then acts like it runs out of gas.

have you checked to see if the fuel filter line has been changed in a while ? If not change this , if you are still having problems could be the float or the jet within the carb
