When I first got my camera, I could download the pics to my laptop just fine with the usb cord that came with it. I lost this cord and got a new one. Now I do what the manual says, plug the usb into the camera and into the laptop and then press "on" button on the camera. Usually this would automatically start the transfer but nothing happens. The light turns green on the camera and it beeps but the screen stays black and the computor doesn't recognize that anything is attached. I don't know why this would happen just because I got a new cord??? Any suggestions?

pls see in my computer ur camera will appear as rem drive otherwise check the settings in the jog dial of camera it shud be in play mode when u switch on ur camera for file transfer
one more thing check the settings of connection the play mode and press menu button see the settings is it on PC mode or webcam mode pls check and let me know

Well if your computer is still not recongizing the usb connection to your camera, try powering the camera on then connecting to the computer...before you connect to your computer go to the start menu and when the menu pops up go to "COMPUTER" click on that then plug the usb into the computer you should see the device pop up if not click on the refresh button on the top of that screen after a few seconds of putting the usb connection into the computer, good luck
