Toshiba p205-s6347 notebook pc shuts down without warning

After about 20 minutes my toshiba satellite p205 notebook shuts down. It is not the battery because it still does this when plugged in. when it is on it works fine.

Your laptop is probably overheating due to an obstructed airflow path or a failed fan. Get some canned air and thoroughly blow out any dust and debris that may be blocking airflow. Sometimes the heatsink cooling fins get matted over with fibers and a lint ball will form in the fan-cage obstructing the fan rotation. If this happens it is often necessary to remove it with tweezers which may require some dissassembly of the notebook.
