I have a sansa also, and it has frozen twice to my knowlege. I dont know how to reset it without taking out the battery. Holding down the power button dosent work for mine. I need to know how to fix it without having to take out the battery(because I already lost one screw).

I have a Sansa 200e that has frozen on me twice, as well. The first time it froze with 3 evenly spaced vertical bars on the screen (I was playing audio at the time). The second time the screen was black, but the blue ring stayed lit. I managed to "fix" it both times by holding down on the power button for a really long time.

Hold the power button and the menu button simultanously for about 20 seconds. Wait at least another 10 seconds, and then turn it on again.

Hold the power button down for 20 seconds, let off of the button, then press it regularly to turn on.

How do I fix my frozen e reader

Like all electronic devices, iPods sometimes freeze and become unresponsive. Sometimes iPods lock up when they're dropped on the ground or come in contact with water, but less destructive accidents may also cause them to stop working. All versions of the iPod have a way to reset their hardware should they stop playing music or refuse to turn off.

Check the "Hold" switch on the top case of your iPod to be sure it isn't activated. An iPod will appear frozen and unresponsive if this feature is activated. A lock symbol will appear on your iPod's screen if it is in Hold mode. Switch the "Hold" button on and off once. Place one finger on the "Menu" button and another on the center button. Press both buttons at the same time and hold them for up to 8 seconds. Release the "Menu" and center buttons once the Apple logo appears on your iPod's screen. Try releasing the buttons and pressing and holding them a second time if the logo does not appear, as it can sometimes take several tries to reset a severely frozen iPod. Press and hold the top button and the center "Home" button on a frozen and unresponsive iPod touch to reset it. Hold the buttons for at least 10 seconds and wait for the Apple logo to appear on the screen, then release the buttons. Connect your iPod to its powerblock or a computer if it is still frozen. Wait 5 minutes and then try to reset it. Sometimes an iPod can appear frozen when its battery runs out and just needs a few minutes of power to start working again. Hope this helps.

My Eclipse MP3 180 is frozen and it just won't evn turn on anymore. It used to be frozen on the Blue logo screen until I just let the battery die. Now even when I charge it for like 15 mins it won't turn...

Ensure to charge the unit completely before turning it back on. If you have waited a few hours before using it and the problem persist, then your battery is bad.

My sansa fuze has frozen, and wont turn off, or go

Hold the the on/off button up for about 10-20 seconds and it should turn off. then you can just turn it on again. I fit doesn't work, then just wait for the battery to die and charge it back up.

Try to reformat it. It might be a virus or a bug.

I have had that problem too. I let the battery die and then fully charged it and it worked again. If that doesn't work, then your going to have to fiddle with it or wait for the next person's reply.

Glad it worked for you. I'm not sure where the rumor got started that people have to wait for the battery to run down, but you definitely do not thanks to reset. Hooray!

My friends iPod is freezing only when he scrolls through files too quickly...What should I do?

This isn't really a fix, but this is better than waiting for the battery to die. Try toggling the hold switch off and then back on and then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for about 6-10 seconds. This should reboot the ipod without having to wait for the battery to die.
