I purchased the DVDRo4 and its been pretty reliable so far.
The problem is pretty short and sweet. Why does the ilo book that came with the recorder, say that it reads DVD+R and DVD+RW. When I copy on my computer something on a DVD+R and it finalizes it, I try to play it back on my ilo and it says it can't recognize it. I don't understand this one. Hope you can give me something to go by. It does shoe my recorded DVD+RW's when recorded from my computer but not the +R's. Help Thanks!

These R04 are fickle, some Brands of DVD discs won't work in ILO,try another brand. Also clean laser in iLO it may be dirty, use commercial cleaning disc, put a drop of rubbing alcohol on brushes.Do not use any other chemical.
It is possible you laser is defective or starting to go.If that's the case you need to replace burner/loader.
Some dvd recorders formulate a little differently,I have made recordings in my iLo that won't work in all brands of players/recorders.

I have a DVDRo4 model so they may not be the same. I connect 3 wire RCA cables to the DVDR output and to TV 3wire RCA input. I set the TV chan to Aux. I set the DVDR souce button to disc. Hope this works on you unit 05
To reset the recorder to factory defaults as if it was just removed from the box - leave the recorder on then press and hold the channel up and down buttons at the same time until it says "Bye" on the display. When it shows the clock it is off - wait a few seconds then turn it back on - you should see the initial setup asking you to choose a language.
Note: You may have to flip down part of the front panel to reveal the channel buttons.
to return DVD player to origional setings, is to go in to the menu and find the factory reset option the will return the setings back to fresh from the factory.
Almost no universal controls work on this unit. I only have found one out of dozens. Its a philips, code is 1906 but I tried it on other remotes and it doesn't work on them. Calling Leapfrog is probably your best bet.
are you tring to burn a disk and you tried another disk .and it still says the same thing then you can clean it but im sure that the dvd recorder is shot these ilo's are real good about that. you probley don't use it that often that's why it's lasted you this long you can replace it with a pc dvd recorder the best that iv'e used is a 16 speed dual layer. i tried a 16 speed single layer but fast foward kept frezzing up and i had to restart my ilo. so i put the 16 speed double layer in it works fine. im sorry but im sure thats whats wrong with it it took me 6 ilo's and about 200 invailed disks to find out. i would have took the sixth one back to wal-mart but it was the last one they had they had they stopped making that model the ilo 500 brand was made by some one else and not half as good as this model. besides this was the best little recorder that i had ever seen at that price and just did not have the heart to throw it out. i would buy a 16 speed dvd dual layer on-line im not sure if it needs a dual layer, it might have been just my single layer but why take the chance they don't cost any more if they do it won't be that much. you might be able to find one just like the one in it but i don't think they will be as good, and they might cost alot more. if you bye one you can pick up one in between $20 and $30 dollars. i would shop around on-line i would pick up two if i was you in case you ever need another one i don't know how long they will make these sense all you can find in wal-mart is 20 speed and i think higher. a 4,8 and 16 speed will not work there either to slow or to fast they have a 12 speed but i have neaver had one.if you decide to buy one, unplug it take the top off and take the strap and power wire out of the other dvd recorder and plug them in to the new one. i just sit the one i got on top of my ilo.to keep it from getting over heated and burn it up like the last one.i cut a little **** on the top lid in the back so the power wire and strap could slide up the back and hook into the dvd recorder. but thats up to you.to get it to fit inside you will have to take the front plat off the ilo dvd recorder and sit something like some metal or starefoam under neith the dvd recorder to sit it up high enough to come through the front hole.then you will have to strap it down to keep it from moving.but first you have to take the plate off the front of new one to slide it through the front of the ilo.that and taking the chance of over heating is why i set mine on top.but any way you just hook it up like a regular pc one. i just left the old one inside the ilo. if you dont won't to cut a **** in the lid just put your front screws in the lid and pick up on the back to leave enough room for the wies to come out wrap some black tape around were the wires are comming out so the the wires don't get cut and put something in the back corners of the case to rest the lid on so there won't be any force on the wires to cut them, and leave the back screws out .sorry this is so long but i don't know any short way to tell you this if you have any problems e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org
