I purchased the DVDRo4 and its been pretty reliable so far.
The problem is pretty short and sweet. Why does the ilo book that came with the recorder, say that it reads DVD+R and DVD+RW. When I copy on my computer something on a DVD+R and it finalizes it, I try to play it back on my ilo and it says it can't recognize it. I don't understand this one. Hope you can give me something to go by. It does shoe my recorded DVD+RW's when recorded from my computer but not the +R's. Help Thanks!
Re: I purchased the DVDRo4 and its been pretty reliable...
These R04 are fickle, some Brands of DVD discs won't work in ILO,try another brand. Also clean laser in iLO it may be dirty, use commercial cleaning disc, put a drop of rubbing alcohol on brushes.Do not use any other chemical.
It is possible you laser is defective or starting to go.If that's the case you need to replace burner/loader.
Some dvd recorders formulate a little differently,I have made recordings in my iLo that won't work in all brands of players/recorders.

The DVD has burned incorrectly and the data has likely corrupted somewhat to the point where the DVD player/writer can't read it. You may be able to watch it on your computer with a DVD drive.
Try saving it to your computer, then erasing the disc and trying to record something short to it and play it back - if it plays back, it's likely to have been a recording problem, however, if you get the same problem, it may be a dodgy disc, a faulty DVD player/writer, or a format problem.
Try this, in order left to right.
Copy DVD to PC -> Erase DVD -> Record on DVD from TV -> Play back
If plays back
Erase DVD -> Continue as normal
Buy DVD-RW (emphasis on the minus) -> Try using that
If that works continue as normal, otherwise...
Return the DVD player/writer under warranty for repair/replacement.
I've had this happen with incombatible discs (only uses +R&+RW and is picky about what brands. I've successfully used Sony +R's and many brands of +RWs. I have two different models - A ZU and MU. One asks to finalize the RW's and the other doesn't.?? If I have the choice, I don't, then I can add to it later. Does it say bad disc to discs NOT created by the ILO?
http://www.retrevo.com/support/CyberHome-DVR-1600MU-DVD-Players-manual/id/534ci862/t/2/e this is as close as I have found. Different brand names but basically the same. If you are copying home movies use the av outputs from the vcr to the av inputs of the vcr, then the av outputs of the ILO to the tv - while recording from your tapes. I read somewhere if it is macrovision protected you can bypass it by using the coax out from your vcr to the Antenna in on the ILO and then pick up that signal in your TUNER of the ILO. I have had good success with both, I prefer the av if I can get that to work, better picture, but sometimes it won't record that way, esp old tapes, so try the ant in (coax) if the av doesn't work. Use + R discs or +RW discs (sony brand is the best +R but it doesn't matter on the +RW's)
Try using Sony +R discs. or +RW's are good, any brand as long as they are +'s. For some reason alot of +R discs brands will not work, I wait and just get Sony +R or the +RW's on sale and stock up and I have no more troubles. Mine is the 05MU. The ZU is a little strange with the RW but will still record. Hope this helps.
